JOHN HENRY “JACK” DOUGLAS, PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY AT HIS HOME IN ARROWWOOD, ALBERTA MARCH 4, 1998 AT THE AGE OF 83 YEARS.

JACK WAS BORN JANUARY 27, 1915 AT BANFF, ALBERTA, WHERE HE ATTENDED SCHOOL AND BEGAN WORKING AT THE BANFF SPRINGS BOTH IN THE HOTEL AND ON THE GOLF COURSE. DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR, JACK ENLISTED IN THE CANADIAN ARMY AND SERVED IN EUROPE. HE RETURNED FIVE YEARS LATER AND BEGAN WORKING AS A MAINTENANCE FOREMAN AT LAKE LOUISE FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS. JACK RETIRED AND MOVED TO ARROWWOOD IN THE EARLY 1970’S WHERE HE HAS RESIDED EVER SINCE.

IN HIS YOUNGER YEARS, JACK ENJOYED HIKING AND FISHING, AFTER MOVING TO ARROWWOOD HE ENJOYED TIME IN THE GARDEN. JACK WAS A FIFTY-FOUR YEAR MEMBER OF THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION BRANCH #026 IN BANFF. HE ENJOYED TIMES WITH HIS CLOSE CIRCLE OF FRIENDS.

JACK IS SURVIVED BY HIS NEPHEW GEORGE AND HIS WIFE MORGAN DOUGLAS OF BANFF, ALBERTA.

JACK WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS WIFE FABIE IN 1994, A BROTHER FRANK IN 1974 AND HIS WIFE QUEENIE IN 1989, AND HIS PARENTS.

AT JACK’S REQUEST, THERE WILL BE NO SERVICE. INUREMENT OF HIS ASHES WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE BANFF CEMETERY, BANFF, ALBERTA AT A LATER DATE.
