REA MELINDA DINGWALL, PASSED AWAY JULY 1, 2000 AT THE VULCAN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE AT THE AGE OF 89 YEARS.
REA WAS BORN JULY 29, 1910 ON THE FARM WEST OF VULCAN, ALBERTA TO ROBERT AND TRESSIA DINGWALL. SHE ATTENDED RICHMOND HILL SCHOOL. AFTER GRADE EIGHT SHE STAYED AT HOME AND HELPED HER PARENTS ON THE FARM WITH HOUSEWORK AND CHORES. REA CONTINUED TO LIVE ON THE FARM HER WHOLE LIFE UNTIL THE PASSING OF HER BROTHER GEORGE IN 1996. SHE THEN MOVED TO THE PETER DAWSON LODGE IN VULCAN WHERE SHE RESIDED UNTIL MOVING TO EXTENDICARE IN APRIL, 2000. THIS PAST MAY SHE MOVED TO THE LONG TERM CARE UNIT OF THE VULCAN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE.
REA ENJOYED TRAVELING ESPECIALLY TRIPS TO CALIFORNIA, OREGON, NEW ZEALAND, HAWAII IN 1970, UMA AND PHOENIX ARIZONA. REA ENJOYED PLAYING THE PIANO. SHE LEARNED TO PLAY THE PIANO AT AN EARLY AGE AND WAS EAGER TO PASS HER KNOWLEDGE ON TO THOSE WHO WANTED TO LEARN. SHE ALSO ENJOYED CROCHETING, GARDENING, MOSTLY FLOWERS AND WRITING LETTERS TO FRIENDS AND RELATIVES.
BELOVED SISTER OF ELIZABETH (JOHN) WILSON OF CHAMPION AND GRACE DINGWALL OF BANFF, TWO SISTERS-IN-LAW PAT DINGWALL OF RED DEER, MARY DINGWALL OF CALGARY, NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS.
REA WAS PREDECEASED BY FOUR BROTHERS GEORGE IN 1996, GORDON, LOUIS AND ROY, HER NIECE SHARON DINGWALL AND HER PARENTS.
FUNERAL SERVICE WEDNESDAY JULY 5, 2000 AT 11:30 A.M. AT THE VULCAN CULTURAL RECREATION CENTRE WITH RICHARD KNIGHT OFFICIATING.
