Lois May Deitz of Milo, Alberta passed away surrounded by her family February 10, 2006 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 72 years.

Lois was born May 4, 1933 at High River, Alberta to Edgar and Evelyn Kennedy.  She attended school at High River, Blackie, Manyberries, Aldersyde and Brant as well as normal school in Calgary. Lois returned to reside at Ensign and taught school at Ensign, Brant, Milo, where she met Bill Deitz. She went on to teach in Banff and later returned to Milo. Bill and Lois were married in Calgary in 1957 and have resided in the Milo area since.

Lois was very active in the community as a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Women, Milo Curling Club and TOPS.  She loved her family, her pet cats and dogs  and was very creative which showed in her meal presentations as well as the many arts and crafts she enjoyed doing which included, painting and drawing pictures, sewing and flowers.  Lois also taught how to paint Ukrainian Easter eggs,

Beloved wife of Bill, loving mother of a daughter Lynn (Terry) Burgess of Corner Store, three sons Lloyd, Gerald (Ginger) and Wes Deitz all of Milo, five grandchildren, Corey, Jody, Kari, Jaxson and Nicole, two sisters Marjory (Garth) Saunders of Westbank, B.C. and Fern Kersey of Calgary, a brother Don Kennedy of Calgary, three sisters-in-law Marion Kennedy of Greenwood, N.S., Maxine Deitz of Milo and Marjorie Deitz of Calgary, two brothers-in-law David Deitz and Robert (Harriet) Deitz all of Milo, numerous nieces and nephews.

Lois was predeceased by her two brothers Gordon and Lloyd Kennedy, two sisters Shirley (Howard) Carey and June Kennedy, her parents Edgar and Evelyn Kennedy.

Funeral Service Thursday February 16, 2006 at 1:30 pm at Milo Community Hall with Pastor Ed Summers officiating.

Casket Bearers Neil Deitz, Keith Deitz, Doug Umschied, Dale Deitz, Brian Kersey and Greg Deitz.

Interment Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Milo.
