Deal, Lillian, beloved wife of the late Roy Deal, passed away November 26, 2008 at Little Bow Continuing Care Centre at the age of 92 years.
Lillian was born December 26, 1915 on the homestead of her parents, Tom and Lynda Clifford, in the Champion area. She attended Long Coulee School until the family moved to the Reid Hill District in 1925. Lillian attended Reid Hill School and went to high school in ‘Vulcan where she finished Grade 11. She returned home to help out and also worked for John Willard. Lillian met Roy Deal at the Reid Hill Baptist Church where they were both members and were married in October, 1937. In 1945 they moved onto the Deal family farm in the Thigh Hill district and enjoyed forty years of active farm life. They retired and moved to Vulcan in 1985.
Over the years Lillian was very involved in several socially active groups. She was a member of the United Church Women, the Royal Purple, Thigh Hill Women’s Institute, Cloverleaf Rebekah Lodge, Vulcan Lionettes of which she was a past president and the Red Hatters of Mesa, Arizona, Lillian enjoyed her friends both at home and in Mesa, Arizona where she spent the winter months for 35 years. She liked swimming, golfing, playing shuffleboard but most of all playing cards with her friends.
A heartfelt thank you to all her friends who visited Lillian during her stay in Peter Dawson Lodge and while she was in the hospital. A special thank you to the doctors and hospital staff at Vulcan Community Health Centre and Little Bow Continuing Care Centre and to the staff at the Peter Dawson Lodge for their kindness and dedication.
Lillian will be lovingly remembered by her two sons Barry (Dorothy) of Winnipeg, Allan of Vulcan, grandson Michael (Ariel) and great granddaughter Anna all of Winnipeg, brother Tom Clifford of Calgary, her dear friend Ruth Richardson of Vulcan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lillian is predeceased by her husband Roy, three sisters, Grace, Jean and Violet and her parents.
Funeral service Monday, December 1, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Vulcan United Church with Sue MacDonald D.M. officiating.
Casket bearers Ron Barnes, Wes Richardson, Gordon Roe, Lawrence Palosky, Leon Spaeth and David Lundgren.
Interment Vulcan Cemetery.
