Daniells, Gregory Bruce of Vulcan, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Calgary South Health Campus on November 15, 2016 at the age of 65 years.
Greg was born in Stettler, AB on Dec. 9, 1950 to Blanche Patricia and Bruce Karl Daniells. Greg’s mother Blanche passed away on Nov. 14, 1961. Bruce remarried Norma Etta Wells on Jul. 3, 1963. To this marriage, his two siblings were born, Sharon in 1964 and Mark in 1969. Greg started school in Hazel Cameron Elementary and came back to graduate from County Central High School in Vulcan. On Jul. 3, 1971, Greg married the love of his life, Linda May McNiven, in Blackie, AB. Greg and Linda had 2 children: a son Jake in 1972, and a daughter Kim in 1974.
Greg was a hard worker. He and his dad Bruce owned and operated the B&G Tire Shop for several years. He owned and operated a tire service truck, a rubber tire backhoe and also hobby farmed. Greg also enjoyed sales, from fish to real-estate. Most recently, he could be found with his red and white polka-dotted cap, driving his Kubota tractor mowing lawns or in his mini bobcat after a winter storm clearing sidewalks and driveways for all his customers. Greg was very mechanically inclined and could usually figure out why a machine didn’t work, then fix it and have it running in relatively short order. Sometimes his repairs and modifications were rather innovative!
Greg loved spending time with his family and socializing with friends. After a hot day of mowing grass or trimming hedges, he could be found in “the office” having a cool beverage. Greg also enjoyed riding horses in the back country, hunting, fishing and camping. He especially enjoyed his most recent camping trip with his grandchildren Rose, Tyce and their families.
Greg loved animals of all kinds. He brought home many unusual family pets like his de-scented skunk Morris and potbellied pig Blossom. Horses were always a favourite, and in his youth he participated in gymkhanas, 4-H and showed horses winning many honors.
Greg is survived by his son Jake (Kim) Daniells, daughter Kim (Paul) Fortin, grandchildren Rose Fortin and Tyce Daniells, and mom Norma Daniells all from Vulcan, sister Sharon (Bill) Schmeelke of Champion, sister-in-law Susan Daniells of High River, mother-in-law Jessie McNiven of Herronton, sister-in-law Ferne (Ed) Frotten of Whitehorse, sister-in-law Evelyn (Dan) Love of Taber, brother-in-law Bruce (Colleen) McNiven of Herronton, sister-in-law Emily McNiven of Vulcan, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and close family friends. Greg was predeceased by his mother Blanche Daniells, father Bruce Daniells, wife Linda Daniells, brother Mark Daniells, father-in-law Frank McNiven, and brother-in-law Harvey McNiven.
Celebration of Life / Birthday will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 1:30 pm at the Vulcan Legion Hall, (240 Sinclair Rd), Pastor David Sarsons officiating.
