Thomas Lloyd Dalling stepped into eternity suddenly at his home in the Peter Dawson Lodge in Vulcan, Alberta  January 14, 2003 at the age of 81 years.

Lloyd was born September 10, 1921 at Logan, Ontario and traveled with his parents John and Helen Dalling to begin  farming near Winnipeg, Manitoba. A short time later his father died and  he was sent to be a farm laborer, while his mother moved to Vancouver. He followed her later, and while there, what was thought to be polio, put him in a wheelchair. Eventually he regained the use of his legs, and apprenticed to become a carpenter, completing his course in 1945 (his family were originally shipbuilders on the Clyde, so carpentry came quite naturally to him). He met Catherine Victoria Gilchrist in Vancouver, they were married in 1947 and blessed with a daughter. The family moved to High River in 1951, where Lloyd worked as a finishing carpenter for many years, one of his work sites being the W.O. Mitchell house. In 1967 they moved to Vulcan where the marriage eventually ended. Lloyd met Blanch Lafferty and she brought into there union four children. In 1990 Lloyd moved to Stettler where he stayed with his daughter until 1993 and returned to the Vulcan area, moving into the Peter Dawson Lodge in 1996, where he has resided since.

Lloyd was a very meticulous, skilled craftsman with wood, a quiet man who kept mostly to himself, through the years he experienced life to the full extremes. Before leaving Stettler, he received inner peace, accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior, having had an earlier brush with death at which time he was shown a beautiful country cottage which was waiting for him – in my father’s house are many mansions, I go to prepare a place before you – death is not the end, but a new beginning.

Lloyd is survived by his loving daughter Patricia,  her husband Patrick Foesier their two sons Shawn (Robyn) Foesier and Erin Foesier, a great grandson Logan all of Stettler, two step sons Owen (Debbie) Beringer and their children, Christine, Shantel, Brandi, Shannon and Dale, and two great grandchildren Chelsey and Bailey all of Coaldale and Barry Beringer of Calgary two step daughters Deb and Wendy Beringer.

Lloyd was predeceased by his second wife Blanch Lafferty, his first wife Victoria Sales, his parents, two sisters Ida Nielsen and Frances (Sam) Savoie.

A memorial service will be held Thursday January 23, 2003 at 2 P.M. at the Peter Dawson Lodge, Vulcan with Lee Spice officiating.

Inurement will take place at Highwood Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire memorial tributes in Lloyd’s memory could be made to the Peter Dawson Lodge Memorial Fund Box 760 Vulcan T0L 2B0.
