Muriel Eva Cutler, beloved wife of the late George “Bob” Cutler,  passed away on April 4, 2007 at her home at the age of 90  years.

Muriel was born July 15, 1916 at Barons, Alberta to Eva and Frank Cutforth.  She attended Garden Prairie School and attended high school in Barons.  The family moved to Victoria and Muriel studied for hairdressing and beauty parlor attendant after she completed high school.  She worked for The Bay in Victoria until moving back to Barons in the summer of 1943.  Muriel married Bob Cutler at Calgary in April 1944.  In 1946 they purchased farmland and moved to the Kirkcaldy district.  Muriel  did several farm projects, such as raising turkeys, to help pay the farm off.   She was an avid supporter of her husband on the farm even though she never drove a tractor.

Muriel loved to garden and always had a fair size garden until two years ago.  In her younger years she sewed but her passion was oil painting and she continued painting until the very end.  Muriel was a good housekeeper and always kept a neat house.  She was a member of the Women’s Institute of Kirkcaldy.

Loving mother of two sons Frank (Helen) of Kirkcaldy, Robert (Jill) of Cranbrook, BC, seven grandchildren Victor Cutler, Kendall Cutler, Nadine Hamilton, Jodi Plowe, Clark Cutler, Leigh Bolli and Todd Bolli, four great grandchildren Cole and  Jane Hamilton, Erin and Quinn Plowe, three brothers George Cutforth of Lethbridge, Wes (Beth) Cutforth of Olds, Harold (Joanne) Cutforth of Lethbridge, two sisters Doris (Bob) Shearer of Lethbridge, Grace (Bill) Thompson of Calgary, three sisters-in-law Ada Cutforth of Vulcan, Irene McKee of Lethbridge, Clara Cutforth of Lethbridge  and numerous nieces and nephews.

Muriel was predeceased by her husband Bob, three brothers Art, Charlie and Roy Cutforth, a sister Opal (Ralph) Ensign and her parents.

Funeral service Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Vulcan United Church with Rev. Lee Spice officiating.

Casket bearers Nadine Hamilton, Jodi Plowe, Clark Cutler, Kendall Cutler, Victor Cutler and Bob Shearer.

Internment Vulcan Cemetery.
