Mrs. Currie & family,
My sincere condolences. I remember Karen as a wonderful human being who ,despite health and personal obstacles, fulfilled her dreams. She was a woman I greatly admired; her perseverance was second to none, she was kind, caring, tenacious, passionate and a powerful soul. I am so proud of her and told her so this past summer. My heart is heavy with sadness that she was taken so young. May you find peace and comfort that she was loved and respected by so many. She will never be forgotten.
So saddened to learn of Karen’s untimely demise. I worked with Karen as a legal assistant and shared at least one camping weekend with her in Southern Alberta. Always enjoyed her lighthearted sense of humour. My condolences to Karen’s family and friends. RIP Karen.
We have lost a kind and generous spirit in Karen. Her love of rescue animals was a gift that formed the foundation of our friendship almost 20 years ago when I moved to Calgary and ended up working at the same law firm. She came to work one day and told me to check out a dog she had seen up for adoption as she thought he would be a good fit. I trusted her and followed up. For the next 14 years Bandit was the best dog we have ever had. I have always been grateful to Karen for finding him. We walked our rescue dogs together on the weekends then, eventually each of our lives moved in other directions but we always maintained a distant friendship. When Karen opened her own law firm she was so proud, and she contacted me to let me know what she was up to. We arranged to go for coffee “some day” when she was in Calgary. Then of course we all heard the shocking news. I am humbled to have called this beautiful soul my friend. Rest in peace Karen.
I am really going to miss Karen. I have known Karen for many years, and can personally attest to how hardworking she was, very clear-headed and determined. I was so happy to be able to attend Karen’s bar call, and am grateful that the law firm of North & Company offered Karen an unsolicited articling position. Karen was calm, supportive, kind and considerate. She had an incredible memory and always knew my husband’s, my children’s and my dog’s name. As a legal assistant, Karen had this incredible knack for formatting and handling paper. Karen was a good and memorable person and her life ended way too soon. Rest in peace, my dear friend. To your family, my sincere condolences for this profound loss.
We were honoured to have known Karen She was a beautiful person who had a kindness and compassion about her. We truly were blessed to have met her and were so thankful for her presence in our Mom/Mother-In-Law’s life prior to her passing.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time, just as Karen’s thoughts and prayers were with our family in our time of need. We hope that the knowledge of what a big part Karen played in so many lives gives you some comfort during this time.
Karen was honorable, compassionate, forgiving, joyous, courageous, brave and one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. Her capacity to care didn’t diminish over time, it grew, expanded, leaving us with an example to follow. I am so very sad for her loss, and my thoughts are with you both as I remember Karen, her animals, and the truly good woman she was.
Mrs Currie and Michael, I am very sorry for your loss and I hope you can find comfort in the wonderful memories of Karen’s life and accomplishments; our heartfelt condolences to you. -Roger and Anna-Marie
Mrs. Currie, brother Michael, and Family,
I am devastated, saddened, and angered, that Karen is gone. We were on the road to rekindling our friendship from long ago, (Fluor Canada). She had mentioned that she would be attending a course in Calgary on the 29th and we were going to meet for coffee. When I turned on the 6:00 news, same evening, I was shocked to see her picture on my TV screen. I thought I was imagining it, as moments before, I wondered why she hadn’t called to meet up for coffee. She made me laugh. She made me mad at times as she was persistent and stubborn with her ideas. She was a fighter. We shared that in our personalities. She still always brings a smile to my heart with her raw to the bone, and on target humour. She loved her family, and her beloved pets. And she was loved back. My deepest sympathies offered. Rita Murphy.
I cannot believe this has happened, you were taken from us far too early. You will be so missed. My heart goes out to your family and friends. Rest in peace Karen, my friend.
