CULP, RUSSELL LEROY, LONG TIME RESIDENT OF ARROWWOOD, ALBERTA WAS CALLED HOME TO HIS LORD, MARCH 28, 1992 AT HIGH RIVER, ALBERTA AT THE AGE OF 96 YEARS.

RUSSELL WAS BORN OCTOBER 26, 1895 AT MONTICELLO, INDIANA AND CAME WITH HIS PARENTS TO ARROWWOOD IN I917. HE MARRIED GLADYS BEAGLE IN 1919 AND THEY CONTINUED TO RESIDE IN THE AREA. RUSSELL WAS THE FIRST MAIL CARRIER FROM GLEICHEN TO ARROWWOOD. HE ALSO OPERATED THE FIRST GARAGE, THEN IN 1925 MOVED TO THE GARAGE ON MAIN STREET WHERE HE OPERATED THE IMPERIAL OIL AGENCY UNTIL TURNING IT OVER TO HIS SON VERLYN IN 1967. IN 1926, RUSSELL AND HIS BROTHER STARTED THE CALGARY-ARROWWOOD EXPRESS HAULING FREIGHT BETWEEN CALGARY AND MILO. HE ALSO HAD AN AGENCY TO SELL CARS, TRUCKS AND JOHN DEER EQUIPMENT.

RUSSELL LOVED HIS FAMILY, FRIENDS AND HAD A SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS LORD AND SAVIOUR, JESUS CHRIST. HE ENJOYED GARDENING, MOSTLY VEGETABLES AND KEEPING THE FAMILY GENEALOGY. IN HIS YOUNGER YEARS, HE ENJOYED GOLF AND TRAVELLING TO DIFFERENT FISHING PLACES.

HE WAS A PAST MEMBER OF THE ARROWWOOD CURLING CLUB AND A MEMBER OF THE ARROWWOOD GOSPEL CHURCH WHERE HE SERVED MANY YEARS AS TREASURER.

LOVING FATHER OF TWO DAUGHTERS GENEVA (GENE) BURRISS OF ARROWWOOD, AND LADONNA (DAN) JANZEN OF CALGARY, THREE SONS VERLYN (MARIE) OF ARROWWOOD, RUSSELL JR.(MEDORA) OF THREE HILLS AND RAY BEUFORD (FAY) OF STRATHMURE, NINETEEN GRANDCHILDREN, THIRTY-FIVE GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, A SISTER-IN-LAW EDNA CULP OF EUPHRATA, WASHINGTON.

RUSSELL WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS WIFE GLADYS IN 1986, FOUR GRAND AND TWO GREAT GRANDCHILDREN.

FUNERAL SERVICE WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1, 1992 AT 2:00 P.M. AT ARROWWOOD GOSPEL CHURCH WITH REV. DENNIS BURRISS OFFICIATING. INTERMENT ARROWWOOD CEMETERY.
