Mildred Eileen Crick, beloved wife of the late Budd Crick, formerly of Parkland and Nanton, Alberta, passed away at Vulcan Community Health Centre, Vulcan, Alberta, February 6, 2003, at the age of 80 years.
Mildred was born March 26, 1922 at Kirkcaldy, Alberta the second daughter of John and Mamie Olson. She attended school at Kirkcaldy and Vulcan. She married Budd Crick in August of 1940 and together they farmed east of Vulcan until taking a position on the Hawk Brother’s ranch near Parkland in 1961. They moved into Parkland in 1978 and Mildred began working for the Post Office until1987 when she retired as Post Mistress. They moved to Nanton in 1996 where she has resided since.
Mildred loved children, they were her bright spot, especially her grand children. She would spend time cooking and playing trucks with them. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, handicrafts and camping. Mildred loved her family and kept everyone up to date of what was going on, as her grandchildren referred to her as “the glue that kept the family together”. The highlight of her week was Fridays when she got together with the Coffee Group. She enjoyed her many wonderful friends and spending time with them. She will certainly be missed by her many friends and family.
Mildred was also involved with her community, she has been a member of the United Church Women and the Order of the Royal Purple where she served a term as Honored Royal Lady. She was also a member of the Nanton Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Mildred is survived by her loving daughters Darlene (Owen) Fulton of Vulcan and Echo Paton of Red Deer, four grandchildren Brenda (Doug) MacDonald, Lorraine (Rob) Falconer, Jason (Christine) Fulton and Deana Fulton and her fiancé Scott Campbell, two great grandchildren Derrick and Dale MacDonald, five sisters Edith Olson, Hazel (Harold) Congdon, Mabel Howerton, Dorothy Stewart and Rena Hodge, a sister-in-law Joan Olson, numerous nieces and nephews.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband Budd Crick, son Dusty Crick, father John Olson, mother Mamie Olson, grandson Duane Paton. , son-in-law Bill Paton, sister Mary Ruark and a brother Glen Olson.
Funeral Service was held Tuesday February 11, 2003 at Nanton-Parkland United Church, Nanton with Rev. Dirk Jesson officiating.
Interment followed at Nanton Cemetery.
