Clara Theodora Cote, beloved wife of the late Cecil Cote, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2007 at the Little Bow Continuing Care Centre, Carmangay, Alberta at the age of 95 years.
Clara was born on April 23, 1912 on the family farm at Queenstown, Alberta to Ole and Gunhild Nelson. Clara married Cecil Cote in 1939 and moved to Carseland where she lived until moving to a Lodge in 2001. Clara was the typical hardworking, modest, prairie-farm housewife and mother, always making the most out of both bad times and good times and always being the rock that kept the family together. Over the years, Clara cooked countless, delicious meals for family and friends. For 35 years, in addition to her daily farm/mother/housewife duties, Clara also ran a home-based business selling farm produce; primarily eggs, to Carseland area residents.
Loving mother of a daughter Diane and three sons, Dale, George (Nina), and Jim (Brenda), a sister, Lilly (Sam) Polo of High River, eight sisters-in-law Clara Nelson, Mildred Nelson, Luella Pickle, Melva Miller, Eloise (Fairy) Aitkens, Yvonne Fawkes, Irene Cote, Margaret Cote and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many long-time friends.
Clara was predeceased by her parents, her husband Cecil in 1986, and siblings Nels Nelson, Gunda (Frank) McMahon, Palmer (Alma) Nelson, Manda (Merrill) Peck, Christian Nelson, Melvin (Laura) Nelson, Lloyd Nelson and George (Phyllis) Nelson.
Funeral service Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Strathmore United Church, 410 – 4 Street, Strathmore with Pastor Dawn Nelson officiating.
Casket bearers Tom Nelson, Lanny Aitkens, Jim Trafford, John Liddington, Peter Cote and Ralph Nelson.
Many thanks to the many wonderful caregivers at the Little Bow Continuing Care Center who made her last few years so much more comfortable.
