COOK Joyce Dianne 1944 – 2022

It’s with great sadness that the family of Joyce Cook of Carmangay AB. announces her passing on July 3, 2022 at the Vulcan Community Health Center at the age of 78.

Joyce was born June 3, 1944 in Grande Prairie AB. Joyce will be sadly missed by her husband of 35 years Ray Cook of Carmangay, AB and by 2 sons John Grant and Scott ( Dianne) Grant, 6 grandchildren (3 granddaughters and 3 grandsons) and 3 great granddaughters, all in Australia, her brother Mike (Sylvia) Blummenchein of Whitehorse NWT and a Special Aunt Mabel Shapiro of Picture Butte AB.

Joyce is also survived by her sisters-in-law Deanna Snowdon of N.B. ,Mona (Morris) Emslie of Fitchburg MA and Jerry Craigen of Fitchburg MA, brothers-in-law Roland Cook of N.B. ,Keith (Mary) Cook of Carsland, AB. Dan (Marlene ) Cook of Selkirk, MB., Special sister-in-law Chris Blummenchein of Langdon, AB., Niece Tracy (Charlie ) Nixon and numerous of nieces and nephews.

Joyce is predeceased by her parents Victor and Izora Blummenchein, 2 brothers John and George, as well as her mother-in-law Florence Cook, sister-in-law June Smith, and brothers-in-law Eugene and John Cook.

Joyce was a big part of the Carmangay Community she was involved in a lot of clubs and her church and what ever else was going on in her community. Joyce was always there to lend a hand to anyone that needed one. She never turned anyone down and she gave 100% of her time to everyone. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting, camping and enjoying time with family and friends.

At family’s request, there will not be a formal funeral service.

A Celebration Tea of Joyce’s life will be held at the Carmangay Senior Community Centre (516 Grand Ave, Carmangay AB) on Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 2 – 4 pm.
