CLARENCE EARL CHADWICK OF VULCAN PASSED AWAY MAY 29, 2000 AT VULCAN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE AT THE AGE OF 71 YEARS.
CLARENCE WAS BORN MARCH 5, 1929 AT MAPLE CREEK, SASKATCHEWAN TO EARL AND IDA MARIE CHADWICK. HE ATTENDED SCHOOL AT KEALEY SPRINGS IN THE CYPRESS HILLS SOUTH OF PIAPOT. AFTER COMPLETING HIS SCHOOLING HE HELPED HIS FATHER ON THE FAMILY FARM FOR SEVERAL YEARS. IN 1948 HE BEGAN WORKING AS A HIRED HAND AT THE A.D. GRANT RANCH AT WALSH, ALBERTA. ON OCTOBER 30, 1951 HE MARRIED ELLEN BRANIFF AT MAPLE CREEK, SASKATCHEWAN. CLARENCE MANAGED A FEEDLOT JUST OUTSIDE OF MAPLE CREEK FROM 1953 UNTIL 1968 WHEN THEY MOVED TO LANGDON, ALBERTA. HE WORKED ON A FARM THERE FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS. THEN IN 1970 HE MOVED TO VULCAN AND WORKED ON FARMS IN THE AREA AS A HIRED HAND. IN 1978 HE BEGAN WORKING FOR ALBERTA PARKS AND RECREATION AT LITTLE BOW PARK AS A MAINTENANCE FOREMAN WERE HE WORKED UNTIL RETIRING FROM THE PARKS IN 1994. FOLLOWING HIS RETIREMENT HE OCCASIONALLY HELPED WITH A FEW FARMERS IN THE VULCAN AREA. HE ALSO ASSISTED WITH CARPENTRY AND PAINTING UNTIL HIS HEALTH WOULD NOT ALLOW HIM TO KEEP WORKING. CLARENCE AND ELLEN WERE IN THE PROCESS OF MOVING TO MEDICINE HAT TO BE CLOSER TO FAMILY AT THE TIME OF HIS PASSING.
CLARENCE ENJOYED FISHING, READING, LOVED TO DANCE AND TRULY ENJOYED ANIMALS, ESPECIALLY HORSES AND CATTLE. HIS MAIN PAST TIME WAS GARDENING AND YARD WORK SPENDING HOURS PRUNING HIS YARD TO PERFECTION. CLARENCE WILL BE LOVING REMEMBERED AS A LOVING, FAITHFUL HUSBAND, FATHER AND GRANDFATHER A KIND, GENTLE MAN WHO SHARED HIS DEEP UNCONDITIONAL LOVE WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
BELOVED HUSBAND OF ELLEN CHADWICK OF VULCAN, LOVING FATHER OF A SON EARL (JODIE), THREE GRANDCHILDREN SHANDEIGH, KENEDEIGH AND LEIGH ALL OF MAPLE CREEK SASKATCHEWAN, THREE SISTERS EDITH BRANIFF OF PIAPOT, SASKATCHEWAN, VON (WILF) MANN OF BARNWELL, FLORENCE (HERBERT) SANDAU OF MAPLE CREEK, SASKATCHEWAN, NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS.
CLARENCE WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS PARENTS, TWO BROTHERS DONALD AND RUSSELL, A HALF BROTHER ALFRED “PETE”, THREE BROTHERS-IN-LAW CHARLES BRANIFF, JACK BRANIFF AND SAM SALTYS.
FUNERAL SERVICE FRIDAY JUNE 2ND, 2000 AT 2 P.M. AT BINKLEY’S FUNERAL CHAPEL, MAPLE CREEK, SASKATCHEWAN WITH PASTOR CAROLYN CONARROE OFFICIATING.
INTERMENT MAPLE CREEK CEMETERY.
