DAVID WILSON “DAVEY” CAUSEY, PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY JANUARY 5, 1998 AT VULCAN, ALBERTA AT THE AGE OF 76 YEARS.
DAVEY WAS BORN NOVEMBER 21, 1921 AT TABER, ALBERTA TO THOMAS AND ELIZABETH CAUSEY. HIS FATHER, A COAL MINER, MOVED THE FAMILY TO LETHBRIDGE IN I93 6. HE ATTENDED SCHOOL AT BOTH TABER AND LETHBRIDGE. HE WAS WORKING AT THE MACLEOD’S STORE IN LETHBRIDGE WHEN HE MET LOURETTA CLEVER. THEY WERE MARRIED IN CHAMPION IN AUGUST OF 1942. DURING THE SAME YEAR DAVEY ENLISTED IN THE ROYAL CANADIAN NAVY AND SERVED IN THE NORTH ATLANTIC UNTIL HIS DISCHARGE IN 1945. HE RETURNED HOME TO CHAMPION TO FARM, WITH HIS FATHER—IN~LAW AT FIRST, THEN ON HIS OWN. HE LOVED THE LAND AND FARMING. DAVEY NEVER LEFT THE FARM, HE TOOK GREAT PRIDE IN KEEPING THE FARM AND FARM YARD IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.
DAVEY LOVED HIS FAMILY AND THE TIMES THEY SPENT TOGETHER PLAYING CARDS, FISHING TRIPS TO WATERTON PARK. HE WAS A PERFECTIONIST, HAD A GREAT SINCE OF HUMOUR, ENJOYED READING AND IN HIS EARLY YEARS TRAINING HUNTING DOGS AND HUNTING. DAVEY WAS AN ACTIVE LONGTIME MEMBER AND PAST PRESIDENT OF TI-IE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION BRANCH # 262 CHAMPION.
BELOVED HUSBAND OF LOURETTA CAUSEY, LOVING FATHER OF A DAUGHTER LAREE JONES BOTH OF CHAMPION, A SISTER GEORGINA (SID) MATTHEWS OF LETHBRIDGE, A SISTER—IN-LAW MARGARET CAUSEY OF PITT MEADOWS, THREE GRANDCHILDREN ANGELA (GORDON) WILTSE OF WHITE ROCK, LISA JONES OF HAWAII AND LEROY JONES OF PENTICTON, A GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER AUTUMN OF PRINCETON, NUMEROUS NIECES, NEPHEWS AND COUSINS, ALSO HIS FAITHFUL DOG KAYLI. DAVEY WAS PREDECEASED BY A BROTHER JIM, TWO SISTERS DORIS BIRTH AND OLIVE MACLEAN AND HIS PARENTS.
