MCLEAN, Doris A. 1916 – 2013

Doris Annie McLean of Vulcan passed away March 6, 2013 at the age of 96.
Doris was born on December 22, 1916 in Queenstown, Alberta to Erastus and Ruth (Macomber) Beckner. Doris attended school in Milo and later moved to Calgary where she married Ken McLean of Milo, on November 5, 1938.

PALMER, Edna Mae 1927 – 2013

Edna Mae Palmer, formerly of Vulcan, passed away February 28, 2013 at the Bethany Care Centre in Cochrane, at the age of 85 years.
Edna was born in Vulcan, Alberta to Ted and Selma Campbell. Edna’s great loves were her family, horses, dogs and cats. She enjoyed riding her horse well into her 70’s. She was a wonderful, determined, kind, loving person and we will miss her great sense of humor.
Edna is survived by 5 daughters and 1 son, Carol Reid (Roy Simpson), Sandra Burley (Fred), Kathy Patterson, Pat Palmer-Wright (Vince), Wade Palmer and Wendy Yoxall (Terry), 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren

FATH, Ruth Ruby 1920 – 2013

Ruth Ruby Fath passed away on February 28, 2013 at the age of 92. Ruth was a strong self-sufficient woman and tried to maintain her independence to the end.

Ruth was born on March 6, 1920 in Armada, Alberta to Wendell and Mary Hanna. Her formative years were spent in the Armada/Lomond area. Ruth began her teaching career in 1943 and continued to do this until 1963. Ruth married Cliff Fath on April 21, 1957. Soon after marriage they purchased a forty acre parcel of land in Vulcan on which they continued to live throughout their lives. Ruth held several accounting

GREENE, Isabel “Belle” 1921 – 2013

Isabel (Belle) Greene (nee Akitt) of Vulcan, AB, gently departed a long and full life on Feb. 28, 2013. Through 91 years, she acquired an abundance of dear friends, yet first in her heart always was her family. She was the last surviving member of a very large family of origin.
Isabel was born in Carmangay, AB on May 16, 1921 to John and Elizabeth Akitt, the 7th of 8 children. The family made their own fun on the homestead fifteen miles east of Carmangay. Belle carried that sense of fun her whole life.

KASELKAT, Uwe “Mike” 1967-2013

Kaselkat, Uwe “Mike”, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 1, 2013, at the age of 45 years.
Memorial Service will be Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 1:30 pm at the Vulcan Evangelical Missionary Church (529 Centre Street, Vulcan, AB) with Pastor Peter Campbell officiating.

ANDREWS, Margery Joan 1922-2013

Andrews, Joan of Vulcan, passed away peacefully February 1, 2013 at the age of 90 years.
Joan was predeceased by her husband C.H.”Budd” in 1985, a daughter Kathryn in 1968 and her parents. Joan is survived by her loving daughters Larraine Andrews and Arlene (Chris) Irwin, son Dean Andrews, grandchildren Savanah and Nathan (Rosanna) Andrews, two great grandchildren Taya and Abby and a brother Les Cox of England as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 1:30 pm at the Vulcan United Church (201 – 2 Ave. South, Vulcan, AB)

Justina Leppky,of Vulcan, formerly of Nipawin, SK, passed on to her eternal home on January 25, 2013 at the Vulcan Community Health Center the age of 79 years. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Hubert Anton Bexte born Jan 29, 1940 and passed away Jan 16, 2013 in Vulcan with his family near him.

GOOCH, Laura Jane 1924 – 2013

Laura Jane (Williams) Gooch, of Okotoks, formerly of Arrowwood, passed away January 2, 2013 at High River Hospital at the age of 88 years.
Laura Jane, daughter of John and Oral Williams, was born on May 3, 1924 in Cove, Oregon. She moved to the Arrowwood area with her parents and two brothers, Jack and Dale, in 1928 where they made their home and started farming 5 miles SE of Arrowwood. They were also avid gardeners and Laura Jane often spoke of her mother’s huge garden.
Jack, Dale and Laura Jane all belonged to the Jr. U.F.A. and enjoyed many Saturday night
