Margaret Welsh, Nov. 15,1929 – Dec. 10, 2016
Margaret, beloved wife of the late John Welsh, formerly of Turin, Alberta, passed away peacefully at Vulcan Health Centre at the age of 87 years with her family at her side.
Margaret was born at Raymond, Alberta to Jack and Dorothy Adams. Margaret was raised and attended school at Fort Macleod. She continued her education at the Galt hospital in Lethbridge where she graduated as a Registered Nurse and continued working there until she met John. They were married Nov. 16, 1951 in Lethbridge and moved to the farm at Kipp where they raised

Wren, John “Jack” Francis, of Vulcan, passed away peacefully at Vulcan Extendicare on December 2, 2016 at the age of 92 years.

Jack was born on January 3, 1924 in Winnipeg, MB and grew up in Calgary. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy in WWII, based in Esquimalt, B. C.

His company, JFWREN Sales, dealt in Oilfield Supplies, and Tracked Vehicle Supplies. He loved animals, especially dogs, golfing, travel and music.

Jack is survived by his brother Gerald Wren. He is also survived by his daughters Jackie (Gordon) Patterson, and Marilyn Adams (Paul Taylor), and by his step-son Wayne (Robyn) Morris. He

It is with great sadness that the family of Darlene Michelle Smith announces her sudden passing on Monday, November 21st 2016, at the young age of 56 years.
Darlene will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 34 years, Brad, and her beloved boys, Ryan and Sheldon (Lauren). Darlene was thrilled with the anticipated birth of her first grandchild (Sheldon and Lauren) to arrive in June, 2017. Darlene is also dearly remembered by her mother, Evelyn, and sister, Sandy (Ian). Engen, Darcy Kent, of Vulcan, passed away suddenly at home on November 20, 2016 at the age of 56 years.
Darcy is survived by his mother Mae Engen of Lethbridge, brother Bradley Engen of Strathmore and son Corey Vooys of Vulcan, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Darcy was predeceased by his father Victor Engen.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Darcy’s honor on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 1 pm at the Vulcan Legion Hall (240 Sinclair Rd).

Daniells, Gregory Bruce of Vulcan, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Calgary South Health Campus on November 15, 2016 at the age of 65 years.
Greg was born in Stettler, AB on Dec. 9, 1950 to Blanche Patricia and Bruce Karl Daniells. Greg’s mother Blanche passed away on Nov. 14, 1961. Bruce remarried Norma Etta Wells on Jul. 3, 1963. To this marriage, his two siblings were born, Sharon in 1964 and Mark in 1969. Greg started school in Hazel Cameron Elementary and came back to graduate from County Central High School in Vulcan. Heather Jean (nee MacDonald) Shopka, wife, sister, aunt and friend to so many, was delivered into the Lord’s caring embrace at the gentle age of 72. Her final journey took place on October 22, 2016 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre.
From a very early age, Heather’s compassionate and caring nature drew her towards a career in nursing, followed by a career in teaching. Her skills, personality, compassion and quest for travel took her overseas for many years where she continued her nursing and teaching calling.

Hazel Vivian Giles October 16, 1919 — October 11, 2016
Hazel passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Hospital Long Term Care at the age of 96.
Hazel was born in Chilliwack B.C. and was raised and went to school in the Conrich area east of Calgary. In 1949, she married Neil Giles and moved to the farm north of Vulcan. The farm was her life and worked beside Neil growing crops, raising purebred Herefords cattle, chickens, turkeys and pigs. Hazel always had a big garden and loved to work in it. Sparkes-Doreen Elnora (nee Marks)
November 8, 1935 – September 30, 2016
Doreen got her call on September 30, 2016 at the Vulcan Hospital after a lengthy illness of C.O.P.D.
Doreen Sparkes was born in Armada Alberta on November 8th, 1935. Doreen was the eldest child of William and Hazel Marks. Doreen was born a pre-mature baby and the odds of her survival were great but her Grandmother Annie Marks (nee Stokes) went right to work to save her. Grandma Annie constructed a homemade incubator with whatever was on hand. Obviously Doreen beat the odds and became a healthy robust infant. Doreen’s next hurdle

Georgina Volk, beloved wife of Delmar Volk, passed away peacefully with family at her side in Vulcan on September 30, 2016, just two days after her 90th birthday.
Georgina was born in Clare, Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland. She married Delmar, the joy of her life, in 1962 and they lovingly raised three children. Georgina had a tender heart for her seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Georgina loved and was proud to be a nurse. She was a very compassionate person and she loved her family, friends, colleagues and people she cared for very deeply. She will be sorely missed by the

Buchan, James ‘Allen’, of Champion, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on September 7th, 2016 at the age of 84 years.
Allen was born on February 9th, 1932 to parents Jim and Dorothy Buchan. They lived in Bellevue until moving to Champion in 1942. In 1956, Allen announced his engagement to Elaine Groves. They were married on February 9th, 1957 and spent the next 58 years together.
Allen is survived by his beloved children – Cindy (Murray), Gary (Joanne) and Nancy (Daryl). Also left to mourn is daughter-in-law Lynnette Stauber, a wonderful group
