Gregory, Earl James, of Vulcan, beloved husband of Mary, passed away peacefully at Vulcan Extendicare on September 26, 2018 at the age of 83 years.
Earl was born March 21, 1935 in Pincher Creek, AB to Ray and Hazel Gregory. He attended school at Waldren (north of Brocket) and also farmed with his father. Earl worked for the Town of Pincher Creek in 1965 before moving to Vulcan in 1971. He worked for Gulf in Vulcan for 6 years (and 5 company name changes!) before working for Ken Reid at UGG. Spaeth, Betty Jane, of Vulcan, passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on September 5, 2018 at the age of 70 years.
Betty was born in Calgary on December 10, 1947 to Howard and Mae Spaeth. She attended school in Vulcan, then to Calgary in January of 1969, where she graduated from Jacobson’s Beauty School. In 1970, she worked at Fairmont, B.C., then returned to Vulcan to operate her own shop “Betty’s Beauty Shop” on Main Street, from 1973 to 1981. Betty continued to live in Vulcan until her passing.
Betty is survived by her sister Lynn Middleton and sister-in-law

Love, Robert “Frank”, beloved husband of Marjorie for 67 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family, at the Vulcan Community Health Center on August 29, 2018 at the age of 91 years.
Frank was born July 26th, 1927 to Clifford and Marie (Ruark) Love at home on the farm near Berrywater, where he lived for 91 years. With his older sister Marjorie, Frank attended school at Berrywater and Vulcan. He married Marjorie Evans of Rocky Mountain House in 1951. Together on the same farm, they raised their four children.

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the death of Jorgen (John) Vissing Sorensen, born May 29, 1931, who passed away peacefully on August 22, 2018 at the age of 87 years.
John was the only one in his family to immigrate to Canada which he did in late 1959. He was a retired Owner/Operator Truck Driver and was fortunate enough to drive all across Canada and the USA. He drove trucks for over 45 years, with his handle being “The Great Dane”. He loved his job, was a very hard worker, excellent provider for his family

Smart, Norma Lee, of Vulcan, beloved wife of Calvin, passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on August 19, 2018 at the age of 72 years.
Besides her husband Calvin, Norma is survived by her daughter Nicole (Michael) and grand children Tariq, Baiyinah and Issra.
To honour Norma’s wishes, there will not be a service at this time.

MacIndoe, George, of Edmonton, formerly of Vulcan, passed away peacefully at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton on July 16, 2018 at the age of 98 years.
George, sometimes called Scotty, was born in the village of Lomond, Alberta. He was the only son of William and Elizabeth MacIndoe and spent his early childhood on their homestead at Wheat Centre (located north of Enchant, Alberta). In 1923 they moved to a farm in the Vauxhall, Alberta district. He received his schooling at New West, the nearby rural one-room school, and also in Vauxhall. Norman, “Betty” Elizabeth passed away suddenly in Lomond, Alberta on July 11, 2018 at the age of 75 years.
Betty was born on August 27, 1942 to Rueben and Sarah Striemer in Carrot River, SK.
In 1982, Betty met Frank Tolsdorf from Travers and together they farmed for ten years. They retired in 1992 and moved into Lomond.
Betty enjoyed flower gardening, knitting and crocheting, creating many beautiful blankets, toques and scarves over the years. She also loved a good game of Crazy Eights!

Petronech, Lesley Ruth, of Vulcan, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, at the Vulcan Community Health Center on July 7, 2018 at the age of 71 years.

Lesley was born in Lethbridge, AB on March 10th,1947. Until the age of 6, she and her parents Gordon and Betty Petronech, along with two older brothers Gordon and John, lived in Coaldale. In 1953, a farm was purchased just on the border of Champion where she grew up and went to school. County Central High school completed her formal education from 1963 to 1965. Massie, Eugene, formerly of Carmangay, passed away at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on June 27, 2018 at the age of 65 years.
Gene was born in Calgary to Phyllis and Gordon Massie on July 29, 1952. He was raised in Calgary before moving to Carmangay. He was the caretaker for the Carman Manor for many years. As well, he worked many other jobs, helping Volk’s building movers, painting, and ice rink caretaker, amongst others. One of the most memorable jobs was when he wrote the Carmangay News column for the Vulcan Advocate as Geno Mass.
