Mum, Oma, Miss Lilly passed away at 92 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre Long Term Care Unit, on Friday, July 26, 2024.
Miss Lilly was born to John and Elizabeth Cannon on March 9, 1932 in Michel, B.C.
It was in Michel that she met her love, Charles Alexander Howe. Dad always said they fell in love at recess. They spent their childhoods together and married in 1950 in Calgary, AB. They spent the following 62 years together. Living in Michel, they welcomed their first two children, Glenn and Garry.

James ‘Jim’ Roy Stewart of Vulcan, passed away at the Calgary South Health Campus on July 23, 2024 at the age of 79 years.
Jim grew up on a farm near Mossleigh, Alberta. He lost his father at a young age and after his father’s passing, he and his mother moved to Lethbridge and later moved back to Vulcan.
Throughout his life he lived in several places in Southern Alberta, settling in Vulcan around 16 years ago. The people of Vulcan greeted him as he did his daily rounds through the downtown, reporting the weather and was especially concerned that all were

The family of Terry Stokes of Lomond are saddened to announce her passing after a long but brave battle with cancer, at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on June 22, 2024 at the age of 75 years.
Terry was born in Brooks, Alberta on November 15, 1948, to Dick and Hilda Teasdale. She attended and graduated from the Lomond School as well as Secretarial School in Calgary. Terry married her high school sweetheart, Norman Stokes, on October 28, 1967. They moved to the Stokes family homestead and together they raised Craig, Wade and Jami on the farm. Clark McKenzie of Champion, passed away at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on May 9, 2024 at the age of 84 years.
Clark was born January 28, 1940 in St. Boniface, Manitoba. He was a meat cutter for many years and met a lot of people during that time. He was well liked by anyone who met him and he will be missed.
Clark is survived by his wife Sherry, sons – Garth (Faith) McKenzie and Scott McKenzie, 3 stepchildren – Rhonda Parrish, Amanda Cornell of Edmonton, and Jason Cornell of Carstairs, grandchildren Shelby, Danica, Kayley, Bryce, William, Dominick, Jayde and Sheldon.

It is with great sadness that BRUCE LESLIE JONES passed away peacefully, on Monday, May 20, 2024.
Bruce was born in Lethbridge in 1971. He grew up and attended school in Lomond. He was 16 years old when he joined the Lomond Fire Department and was an active member for 27 years. An amazing man and kind soul has escape us all as the former Cranbrook resident of B.C. left us suddenly on April 20, 2024. Barbara Violet Smith, of Calgary (formerly of Vulcan), passed away peacefully at the Calgary South health Campus Hospital on May 9, 2024 at the age of 90 years.
Barbara was born April 2, 1934 in Vulcan, AB, eldest of eight children born to Reg and Ethel Sansome. Barbara took her schooling in Long Coulee, Blueson, Kirkcaldy and Champion.
Barbara married Ben Smith on April 6, 1957 and together they raised four boys and farmed north of Vulcan.
