Sylvia Foyle (nee: Korpan) of Vulcan passed away peacefully with her family at her side June 5, 2020 at the age of 84 years.

Sylvia was born in Edmonton, Alberta to Anton and Annie (nee:Laky) Korpan, one of eight daughters including Betty, Ellen, Pauline, Pat, Margaret, Jean and Marion. Anton was a hotelkeeper who moved his family to various locations throughout Sylvia’s childhood, including Ontario and British Columbia, finally settling in Vancouver. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brenda Prentice. Brenda left us on May 5 after a brief battle with cancer.

Brenda was born August 6, 1939 in Magrath, Alberta, the daughter of Wren and Isabell Holladay. Brenda came to Milo in 1958 to work as a school teacher and married local farmer James Prentice three years later and remained a member of the community for the rest of her life.

Norma LaRoche, age 89, passed peacefully at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary Alberta on May 28, 2020.

Norma, born in Saskatoon, grew up in numerous Western Canadian cities as her single mother opened a series of business colleges for young woman in Whitehorse, Penticton, Edmonton and elsewhere while raising Norma and her sister Donna. Norma went to a Alberta College in Edmonton and studied nursing at the University of Alberta. Following her education she worked as a secretary at Home Oil in Calgary, eventually meeting Jerry.

Audrey Sigrid Mary Lucas was born on September 13, 1927 at Indian Head, Saskatchewan to Sigurd & Dorothy Henrickson. In 1929 they moved to the Armada area living in different places until 1939 when they moved to the farm that her parents lived until their passing. She did housekeeping for a neighbor in the area when she wasn’t helping her parents.

It is with a heavy heart but a lifetime of treasured memories that we announce the passing of our much-loved Husband, Father, Grampa, Uncle, Brother and Friend Harold McIlwain. The long-time Vulcan resident lost his hard fought battle with lung cancer (Pleural mesothelioma) on April 10th, 2020 at the Vulcan hospital at the age of 80.

It is with sadness, love and thankfulness to God that we say goodbye to our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Hilda Mollie Munton, who passed away March 25, 2020 at the Vulcan Hospital at 95 years of age.

Hilda is survived by her children: Doug (Valerie) from Coaldale and their children: Ken (Eunice) from Calgary and their children; and Linda (Murray) Hartung from Vulcan and their children.

Due to the ongoing health concerns, the family will have a private graveside service next week and look forward to celebrating Hilda’s life and legacy in the future.

William (Bill) Hilz Jr. died peacefully just shy of 92 years old at the Vulcan Extendicare on March 4, 2020.
Bill was born in 1928 at Reid Hill Farm. He was a farmer around the Vulcan area from the time his own dad could put him to work. He went to Olds College and also Henderson Secretarial for accounting. Besides farming, for six winters he did accounting and tax returns at G.A. Sales office in Vulcan.
