BROTHERWOOD, William John “Bill”   1914 – 1996

WILLIAM JOHN “BILL” BROTHERWOOD, PASSED AWAY AT BOW VALLEY CENTRE, CALGARY, ALBERTA DECEMBER 14, 1996 AT THE AGE OF 82 YEARS.

BILL WAS BORN ON THE FAMILY FARM AT BRUNETTA, ALBERTA NEAR LOMOND. HE ATTENDED BRUNETTA, DIAMOND CITY AND GREEN PRAIRIE SCHOOLS. BILL WAS MUSICALLY TALENTED. HE COULD PLAY AN ACCORDION, A JEW’S HARP AND HE LOVED TO DANCE. HE WAS SKILLED AT BREAKING HORSES AND USING THEM TO PULL HIM AND ANYONE ELSE WHO LIKED TO JOIN THEM, ON SNOW SKIS TO THE HILL, UP THE HILL AND THEN BACK HOME. IN HIS EARLY YEARS HE ENJOYED HUNTING ANTELOPE.

BILL HAD A VERY GOOD SENSE OF HUMOUR AND HAD A GREAT TIME TEASING HIS FAMILY. HE ALSO TOOK TIME TO ADMIRE THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE AND VISITING FRIENDS AT THE LOCAL TAVERN OVER A COFFEE. HE ALSO WAS VERY SKILLED AT PLAYING SHUFFLE BOARD AND WAS A MEMBER OF THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION # 21 VULCAN BRANCH.

BILL LOVED HIS FAMILY, ESPECIALLY HIS GRANDCHILDREN. HE SPENT A LOT OF TIME WITH THEM AND EVEN TAUGHT THEM HOW TO DRIVE AT EARLY AGE. HE ALSO ENJOYED COMING OUT TO THE FARM TO HELP OUT AND DRIVE TRACTOR.

BELOVED FATHER OF A DAUGHTER MARGARET (MILES) WILKINSON OF LINDEN, A SON DAVID (SANDY) BROTHERWOOD OF LOMOND, FOUR GRANDCHILDREN RAYMOND, TAYLOR, BRANDEN AND DESIREE, A STEP- DAUGHTER LINDA (FRED) HEATHER OF PELLY BAY, YUKON, TWO STEP-SONS CASEY (ELWIN) SPEER OF HIGH RIVER AND ROD (SANDY) SPEER OF VULCAN AND THEIR FAMILIES, TWO SISTERS KATE HOWELL OF MILO AND DOROTHY CRAINE OF LOMOND, AND NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS.

FUNERAL SERVICE THURSDAY DECEMBER 19, 1996 AT 2 P.M. AT BETHANY LUTHERAN CHURCH, LOMOND WITH PASTOR ED SUMMERS OFFICIATING.

INTERMENT LOMOND CEMETERY.
