Wilbert Joshua “Web” Bride passed away at the Vulcan General Hospital on February 20, 1990 at the age of 102 years.
Web was born at Hamilton, North Dakota on October 7, 1887. He came to Saskatoon when there was only one street. He worked on making roads, both as an Equipment Operator and as a Mechanic. He married Bessie Mott in 1917. He was a warm, hard working gentleman who retired from the farm at the age of 82 years. He enjoyed babysitting the grandchildren. He was an avid reader. In his younger years, he played baseball and later on he still enjoyed watching the game. Web was a past member of B.P.O. Elks #121 Vulcan and the Vulcan Legion.
Beloved father of three sons – Ken (Elsie) of Edmonton, Harold (Clara) of Vulcan and Lloyd of Vancouver, five grandchildren – Elaine (Dick) Hall of Vulcan, Marg (Ron) Jordan of Lethbridge, Peggy Tally, Linda Bride-Waidman both of Edmonton and Dawn Anthony of Vancouver, ten Great Grandchildren – Sherry Thompson, Marty Hall, Julie Hall, Rick Hall, Darcy Jordan, Larry Jordan, Megan Tally, Caitlin Tally, Greg Waidman and Grant Waidman, and six Great Great Grandsons.
Web was predeceased by his wife Bessie in 1953, a daughter Eileen Thurgaur of Vancouver in 1975, two sisters, nine brothers and his parents.
Funeral Services Saturday, February 24, 1990 at 3:00 pm at Vulcan United Church with Rev. Beverly Hill officiating. Interment in the family plot in the Vulcan Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Martin Hall, Darcy Jordan, Rick Hall, Pat Honess, Jack McFadden and George Thompson.
