Bouzyan, Ferris Nicholas “Shorty”, formerly of Champion, Alberta, passed away at the Vulcan General Hospital June 12, 1990 at the age of 87 years.

He is survived by his brother Glen of Stavely and a sister Eva Bell of Edmonton, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, a sister Libby Latiff and a brother Bill.

Shorty was born at Rugby, North Dakota on December 19, 1902 and came to Stavely in the spring of 1903 where he received his schooling.

He worked in the oil fields until 1931 then moved to Champion to operate the Champion Grocery Store, which he sold in 1971. He continued to reside in Champion until moving to the Peter Dawson Lodge in April of 1989 where he has resided since.

Shorty was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Royal Canadian Legion, and he was very active on the Champion Skating Rink Committee. He played baseball for many years then later on he coached the Champion Ball Club. Shorty also enjoyed curling and served on the Board. He enjoyed traveling by car, which he drove until his 86th birthday, playing Rummy and Poker.

Funeral Services at the Champion United Church Friday, June 15, 1990 at 2:30 pm with Rev. Bert Frey officiating. Interment Champion Cemetery.

Honorary Pall Bearers were Robert Fath, Howard Hagg, Cecil Rhodes, Bill Jopling, Theodore Holm, Skeez Christensen, Martin Matlock and Elwood Granlin. Active Pall Bearers were Dave Causey, Sev Pasolli, Don Mallory, Alan Buchan, Dale Keenan and Ward MacDonald.
