CLIFFORD EARL “CLIFF” BOOTH, PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY SEPTEMBER 7, 1997 AT VULCAN, ALBERTA AT THE AGE OF 97 YEARS.

CLIFFORD WAS BORN APRIL 21, 1900 AT DUNSEITH, NORTH DAKOTA, AND MOVED TO CANADA WITH HIS MOTHER, FATHER, SIX BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN 1910. THEY HOMESTEADED IN THE BADGER LAKE DISTRICT, WHERE CLIFF ATTENDED THE FIRST CHANCE SCHOOL. AT AN EARLY AGE HE STAYED HOME AND HELPED HIS FATHER ON THE FARM. IN 1919 HE BEGAN WORKING FOR THE CANADIAN PACIFIC RAILROAD, BUILDING IRRIGATION CANALS. IN WHAT IS NOW KNOWN AS THE EASTERN IRRIGATION DISTRICT. HE ALWAYS LIKED WORKING WITH HORSES. LATER, HE OPERATED A DRAG LINE.

HIS FATHER PASSED AWAY IN 1923 AND CLIFF RETURNED TO OPERATE THE FAMILY FARM UNTIL 1925. HE THEN MOVED TO THE HUSSAR DISTRICT TO OPERATE A ROAD-GRADER. IN 1930 HE RENTED LAND IN THE REID HILL DISTRICT, EAST OF VULCAN AND FARMED THERE UNTIL 1943. CLIFF WAS HIRED ON AS A LEASE-RIDER FOR THE LOMOND COMMUNITY LEASE. HE MARRIED VELMA HUSTON IN 1944. THEY MOVED TO THE FARM EAST OF LOMOND WHERE THEY RESIDED UNTIL THEY
RETURNED TO LOMOND IN 1968, VELMA PASSED AWAY IN 1972.

IN 1973 CLIFF MARRIED ALBERTA ARMSTRONG, AND THEY CONTINUED TO LIVE IN THEIR HOME IN LOMOND, UNTIL THE SPRING OF 1997 WHEN CLIFF”S HEALTH STARTED TO FAIL. HE MOVED TO THE EXTENDICARE IN VULCAN.

BELOVED HUSBAND OF MRS. ALBERTA BOOTH OF LOMOND, FIVE STEP- CHILDREN JEAN (WALTER) MIX OF VULCAN, ARLENE (ROBERT) SMITH OF BROOKS, LIL HUGHES OF CALGARY, DAVID (MARJORIE) ARMSTRONG OF LOMOND AND LES (DEBBIE) ARMSTRONG OF CRESTON, TWO SISTERS GLADYS HADLEY OF POMONA, CALIFORNIA AND HAZEL CONKLIN OF STETTLER, A SISTER—IN-LAW VIVIAN BOOTH OF VULCAN, AND NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS.

CLIFF WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS FIRST WIFE VELMA IN 1972, FATHER HARVEY, MOTHER ALZORA, THREE BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS.

FUNERAL SERVICE FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 12, 1997 AT 1 P.M. AT BETHANY LUTHERAN CHURCH, LOMOND, ALBERTA WITH PASTOR ED FISHER OFFICIATING.

INTERMENT AT 3:30 P.M. AT VULCAN CEMETERY.

CASKET BEARERS WERE DUANE MIX, GORDON SMITH, WADE ARMSTRONG, ARLIE HUGHES, EARL ARMSTRONG AND KEN BOOTH.

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, MEMORIAL TRIBUTES IN CLIFF’S MEMORY COULD BE MADE TO S.A.V.E. (SENIOR ASSOC. OF VULCAN EXTENDICARE) BOX 810, VULCAN, T0L 2B0.
