JOSEPH NIL IVAN GERARD “GERRY” BOISVERT OF VULCAN PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY FOLLOWING A LENGTHY BATTLE WITH CANCER AND HEART DISEASE ON DECEMBER 8, 2000 AT THE AGE OF 72 YEARS.

GERRY WAS BORN JULY 14, 1928 AT MARENGO, SASKATCHEWAN TO WILLIE AND ALMA BOISVERT. HE ATTENDED SCHOOL AT MARENGO UNTIL GRADE EIGHT WHEN HE STARTED WORKING ON THE FAMILY FARM, THEN OTHER FARMS IN THE AREA, HE DROVE FUEL TRUCK. GERRY MARRIED MYREL HARLEY IN 1950 AT MARENGO, SASKATCHEWAN. IN 1952 THEY MOVED TO ST. PAUL WHERE HE WAS EMPLOYED WITH CANADIAN UTILITIES UNTIL HE WAS INJURED. HE THEN WENT TO WORK AS ASSISTANT MANAGER AT THE RONDELL HOTEL, IN COLD LAKE. IN 1954 HE JOINED THE ARMED FORCES AND TRAINED AT ST. HUBERT, QUEBEC AND THEN STATIONED AT COLD LAKE AS MASTER CORPORAL IN TRANSPORTATION. IN 1961 HE WAS TRANSFERRED TO NAMAO AND RETURNED TO COLD LAKE IN 1966. GERRY WAS DISCHARGED IN 1972 AND BEGAN WORKING FOR THE TOWN OF GRAND CENTRE AS FOREMAN FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS UNTIL SUFFERING A HEART ATTACK IN 1979. AFTER HIS RECOVERY, HE OBTAINED THE CONTRACT FOR GARBAGE REMOVAL FOR COLD LAKE, GRAND CENTRE AND THE COLD LAKE AIR BASE UNTIL SELLING IT IN 1984. IN 1988 THEY MOVED TO CLARESHOLM, BEGAN CARING FOR THE TRAILER PARK DURING THE SUMMERS AND WINTERED IN ARIZONA FROM 1989 UNTIL 1993 AND MOVED TO VULCAN IN 1996.

GERRY ENJOYED CARPENTRY WORK ESPECIALLY RENOVATING OLD HOMES AND RESELLING THEM IN GRAND CENTRE, CLARESHOLM AND ARIZONA. HE WAS AN AVID GOLFER AND CURLER AND WATCHING SPORTS ON TELEVISION. IN HIS YOUNGER YEARS HE ENJOYED HOCKEY AND BASEBALL. HE VOLUNTEERED HIS TIME ON PARISH COUNCIL AND AT GYMKHANAS TO HELP WITH THE BUILDING OF THE SKATING ARENA AT GRAND CENTRE.

BELOVED HUSBAND OF MYREL “GRANNY” BOISVERT OF VULCAN, LOVING FATHER OF FOUR DAUGHTERS DEB (JOHN) WISPINSKI OF EDMONTON, TWILA (PETE) THOR OF KITSCOTY, ALBERTA, SUE (DARRELL) AYERS OF HIGH PRAIRIE, DONNA (LARRY) McMAHON OF VULCAN, FIVE SONS LAMAR (JANET) OF VICTORIA, GARY OF MORINVILLE, MIKE (HEIDI) OF EDMONTON, BOB (LUCILLE) OF LETHBRIDGE, DALE (CORINNE) OF CAMROSE, TWENTY FOUR GRANDCHILDREN, SIX GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, TWO SISTERS LOUISE (HENRY) TROTTIER OF SHERWOOD PARK, AGNES TONER OF CALGARY, TWO BROTHERS ROLAND BOISVERT OF SHERWOOD PARK, GUY BOISVERT OF MARENGO, A SISTER-IN-LAW ALVERA BOISVERT OF EDMONTON, NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS.

GERARD WAS PREDECEASED BY TWO BROTHERS LUCIEN, LAWRENCE, A SISTER CLAUDIA (JOE) THERIAN, TWO SISTERS-IN-LAW LUCIEN, CORA AND HIS PARENTS.

RELATIVES AND FRIENDS ARE INVITED TO PRAYERS AT ST. ANDREW’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, VULCAN WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 13, 2000 AT 7:00 P.M.

FUNERAL MASS THURSDAY DECEMBER 14, 2000 AT 11:00 A.M. AT ST. ANDREW’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, VULCAN WITH REV. FR. PHILLIP LEE CELEBRANT.

CASKET BEARERS LAMAR BOISVERT, GARY BOISVERT, MIKE BOISVERT, BOB BOISVERT, DALE BOISVERT AND PAUL BOISVERT.
