BEINGESSNER, MICHAEL JOHN “MIKE”, LONG TIME RESIDENT OF CHAMPION, ALBERTA, PASSED AWAY AT THE VULCAN GENERAL HOSPITAL ON SEPTEMBER 13, 1990 AT THE AGE OF 93 YEARS.
MIKE IS SURVIVED BY HIS LOVING WIFE OF 67 YEARS ANNA MAE AND LOVING DAUGHTER RUBY AND HER HUSBAND PAUL DeCLERCQ ALL OF CHAMPION, FOUR GRANDCHILDREN CONNIE AND MICHAEL MORRISON OF RED DEER, LORI AND WIL AHART OF CALGARY, DARRELL AND CAROLINE OF STAVELY AND SCOTT OF VANCOUVER, SIX GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, NUMEROUS NIECES, NEPHEWS AND COUSINS.
MIKE WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS PARENTS JOHN AND BRIDGIT BEINGESSNER AND FOUR SISTERS.
MIKE WAS BORN AT MILDMAY, ONTARIO ON SEPTEMBER 17, 1896 AND CAME WITH HIS PARENTS TO CHAMPION BY TRAIN IN MARCH 1917. HE SERVED FOR A SHORT TIME IN THE FIRST WORLD WAR. HE MARRIED ANNA MAE FATH IN JANUARY OF 1923 AND CONTINUED TO FARM IN THE CHAMPION AREA.
MIKE ENJOYED PLAYING SOFTBALL FOR MANY YEARS, WAS AN AVID GAME BIRD HUNTER AND ATTENDED MANY COMMUNITY DANCES AND SOCIALS. HE ALSO LOVED HORSES, ESPECIALLY HEAVY HORSES. MIKE WAS A MEMBER OF THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION BRANCH 262, CHAMPION.
FRIENDS ARE INVITED TO MEET FOR PRAYERS SUNDAY EVENING AT ST. MARYS AT 7:00 P.M. FUNERAL MASS WILL BE MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 1990 AT 10:00 A.M. AT ST. MARY’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, CHAMPION WITH FATHER GILLES LEBLANC CELEBRANT. INTERMENT TO FOLLOW IN THE CHAMPION CATHOLIC CEMETERY.
