Dr. Joan M.K. Bach of Sherwood Park, Alberta passed away suddenly on Friday, July 2, 2004 at Sherwood Park at the age of 51 years.

Joan was born February 19, 1953 in Calgary to Richard “Bud” and Margaret “Peggy” Bach. She grew up near Champion and came to Edmonton to study medicine at the University of Alberta. Joan went on to become a caring family physician who took particular pleasure in the many babies she delivered.

Joan was a loving mother. Her devotion to her children was obvious as she dedicated the past several months to helping her daughter Regina and son Grayson during Regina’s successful battle with cancer.

Joan is survived by her loving family, daughter Regina, son Grayson and their father Jim Oake all of Sherwood Park, mother Margaret Bach of Champion, two brothers Don (Susan) Bach of Summerland, BC and David (Dianne) Bach of Champion, two sisters-in-law Peggi (Ken) Riehs of High River and Cathy (Lyle) Langner of Edmonton and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Joan will also be missed by her dear friend Laurelie Nattress of Edmonton and many other friends.

Joan was predeceased by her father.

Mass of a Christian Burial Thursday, July 8, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Champion with Rev. Fr. Benedicto M. Marino officiating.

Honorary bearers all of Joan’s friends.

Casket bearers Ron Hunter, Bonnie Hunter, Ken Riehs, Peggi Riehs, Kelly Baskerville and Emily Bach.

Internment Champion Catholic Cemetery.
