Barbara “Barb” Frances Smith
November 24, 1925 – June 30, 2017
“Mom” passed away peacefully at Vulcan Extendicare with family by her side.
Barbara was born in Long Beach, California and along with her Mother, Dorothy and sister Patricia, Barbara immigrated to Alberta in 1939.
Barb is survived by her loving husband Allan of 73 years, her son Donald (Inger) and by her daughter Carol Ray. She is also survived by five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Barbara was predeceased by her sister Patricia and by her son-in-law, Lloyd Ray.
As per Barbara’s request, there will be no funeral service. Cremation

Marcella Steiner passed away on June 9, 2017 at the Willow Creek Care Centre in Claresholm. Marcella now joins her husband Carl, who passed August 29, 2008 and whom she missed so much.

It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather Julius Horbachewsky on May 8th, 2017 at the age of 84. Julius was born in Preeceville, Saskatchewan and moved to Calgary in the 1950’s.

Nadobny, Kenneth Wayne, of Vulcan, passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on April 28, 2017 at the age of 81 years.
Ken was born in Sudbury, Ontario on November 24, 1935. His family later settled in Renfrew. At the age of 21, Ken left home and headed west. He eventually ended up in the Vulcan area where he met and married Carol Elaine Lerohl, on Sept 12, 1961 in Kemmer, Wyoming. They returned to Ontario and lived in Ottawa and then Renfrew. In 1964 they returned to Vulcan where Ken has resided since.

Mitchell, John David, formerly of Vulcan, passed away peacefully in Victoria, B.C. on April 20, 2017 at the age of 84 years.
Dave will be greatly missed by his wife Bev, his children Winston, Scott (Susie) and Lyndon (Cathy), seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter, many nieces, nephews, and brother and sisters in law. Chapman, Helen “May” (formerly of Lomond) passed away peacefully at the Taber Health Centre on April 18, 2017 at the age of 99 years.
May was predeceased by her husband Ralph, her parents Edward and Helen Brown, and by siblings, William, Janet, Margaret and Wallace and by all her in-laws. She is survived by her children, Ed (Rose) Chapman of Bassano. Schmidt, Cleo, of Vulcan, beloved husband of Louise, died at the Vulcan Community Health Centre April 16, 2017 at the age of 80 years.
Cleo was born October 26, 1936 in Waterloo ON the 11th child of 14 to William and Caroline. He went to school at Rummelhardt down the road from the family farm. In 1957 Cleo traveled west for the harvest. He hired on with Lawrence Orchard, who farmed east of Vulcan. In 1964 Cleo married Caroline Louise Graham of Vulcan. They were blessed with 2 children and raised them on the Lawrence Orchard farm that they bought and

We are sad to announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Mabel Johanna Gerding (Peterson, Monner), on Good Friday, April 14, 2017, at the age of 94 years (or as she would say, “a hell of an age”).
She lived a full life, filled with laughter, stubbornness and generosity. Never one to hold back, she always spoke her mind regardless of the results, but never complained. Even to the end, always stating “what’s there to complain about, I’ve got a place to park my ass, a window to look at and they aren’t going to kick me out!”

Robert “Bob” Schibbelhute of Vulcan, AB (formerly of Carmangay), passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Extendicare on April 11, 2017 at the age of 82 years.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Marion, daughter Wendy and son Neil. He was predeceased by his parents David and Florence Schibbelhute. Bob’s greatest passions in life were his faith, family, farming, tractors, tanks, rebuilding classic vehicles and telling stories. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Jean Thomson of Milo, Alberta passed away at the Vulcan Health Centre on March 24, 2017 at the age of 89.
Jean was born in Milo February 11, 1928 to Joe and Mary Thomson. After completing her school education at Milo and Cluny, she chose nursing as her career, trained at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton and achieved her RN in 1951. Her early years as a nurse took her to Winnipeg and Banff, but most of her working life was devoted to British Columbia Public Health.
