Anderson, Wayne, of Vulcan, beloved husband of Gerrie, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Vulcan Community Health Centre, on February 19, 2017 at the age of 78 years.
Wayne was born on October 25, 1938 in Lethbridge to Bill and Annie Anderson. He attended Barrhill and Turin School before moving to Champion in 1952, where he finished his schooling. Wayne farmed with his dad and on August 15, 1963, he married Gerrie Blackford and they settled in the Champion/Vulcan area. Wayne was a farmer at heart and enjoyed farming alongside his own son, Sheldon.
Wayne was a member of the Champion Lions Club, Champion Curling Club as well as the Vulcan Minor Hockey Association. He was an avid sports fan and was involved in baseball, curling and hockey for many years. Coaching baseball was something that Wayne really enjoyed. In 1985, he was involved in the formation of the first Foothills “AA” Midget hockey team.
Wayne and Gerrie were fortunate to be able to travel many places, including Europe, the Caribbean, South America (Venezuela), Central America (Costa Rica), Cuba, and Amazon.
Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and all their activities. He will be dearly missed by all.
Besides his loving wife Gerrie, Wayne is survived by his children Sheldon (Leanne) Anderson of Vulcan and Kim (Kevin) Booth of Milo, six grandchildren – Taylor (Faren) Anderson, Sarah Anderson, Kylee, Larissa, Kaden and Brogan Booth. He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Annie Anderson and brother Arvid Anderson in 1958.
As per Wayne’s request, no service will be held at this time.
