ALTIZER, JEMIMA MARIA VELMA “MIMA” OF GRASSMERE, B.C, FORMERLY OF EDMONTON, BLACK DIAMOND AND VULCAN, PASSED AWAY AT HER HOME ON OCTOBER 14, 1990 FOLLOWING A LENGTHY ILLNESS, AT THE AGE OF 84 YEARS.
BELOVED WIFE OF MR. EARL ALTIZER AND LOVING MOTHER OF THREE SONS AND THEIR WIVES – CECIL AND PAT AND GERALD AND JUDY, ALL OF CALGARY AND EUGENE AND KATHY OF VERNON,B.C., A DAUGHTER – VIRGINIA CRISS OF GRASSMERE, TWO DAUGHTERS-IN-LAW – SHIRLEY ALTIZER OF CALGARY AND HILDA ALTIZER OF PRINCE GEORGE, B.C., 23 GRAND-CHILDREN, TWENTY GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AND NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS.
SHE WAS PREDECEASED BY A DAUGHTER MAYBELLE, A SON JAMES AND HER THREE BROTHERS, FOUR SISTERS AND HER FATHER GABRIEL EDMOND DAVIDSON AND HER MOTHER ELIZABETH JANE DUNN.
MIMA WAS BORN ON MAY 18, 1906 AT MADAWASKA, ONTARIO. SHE CAME TO REDCLIFFE, ALBERTA AND MARRIED EARL ALTIZER NOVEMBER 16, 1927 IN CALGARY. THEY RESIDED IN VULCAN UNTIL 1941 WHEN THEY MOVED TO NANTON. THEN IN 1943 TO BLACK DIAMOND, IN 1945 TO VERMILLION AND TO EDMONTON IN 1947 WHERE THEY MADE THEIR HOME UNTIL MOVING TO GRASSMERE, B.C. IN 1968 WHERE THEY RETIRED AND HAVE RESIDED SINCE.
MIMA WAS A VERY PRIVATE PERSON WHO KEPT MOSTLY TO HERSELF. SHE ENJOYED PLAYING CARD GAMES, ESPECIALLY 31, RUMMY AND HEARTS. SHE WAS THE LAST OF HER FAMILY AND WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BY ALL.
FUNERAL SERVICE FRIDAY OCTOBER 19, 1990 AT 11:00 A.M. AT ST. ALDHELM’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, VULCAN, ALBERTA. WITH THE REVEREND CANNON DON BINNEY OFFICIATING. INTERMENT VULCAN CEMETERY.
