MACKENZIE, ‘Ed’ Edward Albert 1941 – 2024

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ed Mackenzie on October 3, 2024 in Vulcan at the age of 83.

Ed was born July 14, 1941 in Vulcan but lived nearly his whole life in the Carseland area. He married his High School sweetheart Penny Malmberg in 1965. They spent two years in Herronton while she taught school in Brant and he ran the grain elevator. Shortly after, they moved to the Mace family homestead which he farmed for many years. In 1968 they were blessed with a son Marc, followed by Derek in 1970, as well as a set of twins in 1974, Mace and Amber. As well as farming Eddie worked for many years at ICI/Orica as well as doing maintenance at the Carseland curling rink.

Papa Eddie, as he was affectionately called by his grandchildren, was very loving, patient and kind. He enjoyed his time with family and friends and will be missed immensely.

Eddie is survived by his loving wife Penny, four children – Marc (Rebecca), Derek (Leigh-Anne), Mace and Amber (Brad) Rhodes. Ed is also survived by his grandchildren – Tanner (Brittany), Sarah (Dan), Amanda, Austin (Faith), Blair (Liv), Piper (Keegan), Kole and Aubree (Keifer), Damian and Ariel; great grandchildren – Kingston, Kora, Tazman, Aurelia, Tavis, Aaliya, Noble, Evelyn, Kacey, Riley, and Brooke. He was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Helen and a sister Alma Mae.
