It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected death, but peaceful passing, of John Gordon Gieschen, at his home in Vulcan County, on November 15, 2022, at the age of 81years.
John was born in New Westminster, British Columbia. After working at his father’s printing company in New Westminster for many years, he moved his family to Calgary in 1981 where he started Goldstar Business Forms and worked there until his retirement.
John was married to the love of his life, Myrna, for 58 years. They were residents of Springbank for 42 years until recently, when they moved to Vulcan County. John and Myrna loved to travel and spent time exploring Canada, the United States and Mexico. John particularly loved to travel in their motorhome where you would often find them set up overlooking a lake.
John enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his granddaughters. He was a devout Calgary Flames Fan and loved animals. John had a passion for DIY projects and was a master innovator who could solution any problem.
John had a good sense of humor and loved a good laugh. John was a kind, humble, loyal man who will be greatly missed.
Besides his loving wife Myrna, John is survived by his children Glen (Tricia) and Brian (Brenda) Gieschen, grandchildren Maggie and Mackenzie, his brother Stan Gieschen and sister Joan (Cliff) Reeves and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his son Trevor.
The family wishes to thank neighbours and First Responders for their support.
