Marilyn Rose Wogsberg of Lomond, beloved wife of Bill, passed away on March 4, 2022 at the age of 59 years.
Besides her loving husband Bill, Marilyn is survived by her daughter Shelby (Josh) and son Jonah, mother-in-law LaVerla, and sister-in-laws Laura (Randy), Lavinia (Bruce), Roberta (Mike) and Denise (Doug). She was predeceased by her brother-in-law Larry and father-in-law Wilhelm.
Marilyn was born in Smith Falls, ON and raised in Montreal, QB. She moved to Alberta in 1983 and completed her Criminal Justice Diploma through the Lethbridge College and worked as a Special Constable with the city of Wetaskiwin and prison guard in Bowden. Bill and Marilyn were married in Lomond on July 29, 1989 and welcomed their two children, Shelby on August 15, 1991 and Jonah on April 7, 1995.
Marilyn’s pride and joy were her children. She volunteered at every school event and never missed a sporting game they were involved in. She was never more proud than when Shelby obtained a Bachelor Degree in Biological Sciences and then a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy and Jonah obtained his Journeyman Certificate as an Electrician. She bragged about her children often and made it known how much they were loved.
As much as she loved her children, Marilyn loved Bill even more. They traveled frequently and have many fond memories in Jamaica, Mexico, Las Vegas, California, and Florida. They built their current home together where they lived for 27 years outside of Lomond. She enjoyed caring for her yard, hosting family gatherings and never turned down a visit with friends on her deck.
Marilyn was passionate about sports and could tell you every stat on any sport that you wished to discuss with her. She loved to run and competed in many organized races and triathlons. She even organized the Terry Fox Run in Lomond for a number of years and was a passionate supporter of this cause.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Lomond Cemetery for family only.
Tributes in Marilyn’s memory can be made to the Terry Fox Foundation (https://give.terryfox.ca/3734/donate).
