Lawrence Clements of Vulcan (formerly of Milo), beloved husband of Doris, passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Extendicare on May 18, 2021 at the age of 96 years.
Lawrence was born January 19, 1925 to Bill and Florence Clements in Provost, AB. In 1927, the family moved to the Milo District. In 1931, Lawrence started school at Corbie Hill until it closed and then went to Milo. In January of 1944, he enlisted in the Army and in April of 1946 he came back home to Canada from Germany. In June of 1948, he took over the Milo Café with the help of his family. In 1950, Lawrence started to work for the CPR and retired in 1986.
He married Doris Davenport of Cluny in 1950. They first lived in High River and then in 1951, moved to Milo. In 1963 they moved to Warner, then to Barons. In 1965 they moved back to Milo where they remained. Lawrence and Doris did a lot of travelling and bus tours which they thoroughly enjoyed over the years.
Lawrence took great pride in his garden and yard and you could always find him puttering around doing something. He was always willing to help others, whether it was in the yard, a house or something mechanical – he would always try to help.
Besides his loving wife Doris, Lawrence is survived by his daughter Darlene Peterson (Earl), son Larry Clements, grandchildren – Carla (Craig) Woolridge, David (Monica) Peterson, Brock (Jenn), Chandell and Ashton Clements, Great Grandchildren: Kaydence, Logan, Zachary, Hunter and Sydney, sister Betty Armstrong and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lawrence was predeceased by his parents, sisters Ethel (Hap) Heather, Dorothy ‘Toots’ Clements, Louise (David) Neville, Frances (Mervin) Goldthorpe, brothers Walter and Joe (Audrey) Clements and brother-in-law Lloyd Armstrong.
Due to COVID-19 protocols, a Private Family Graveside Service will be held in May 2021 at O’ Perfect Peace Cemetery, Milo, AB.
