GOOCH, Willodene ‘Dene’ 1929 – 2021

Willodene (Dene) Gooch 1929 – 2021

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear Mother on May 8, 2021 at 91 years of age, at Red Deer, AB.

Mom spent many years as a farm wife, wonderful Mother, neighbor and friend. She taught many children to tap dance in the Milo/Vulcan district. Our fondest memories of Mom on the farm was her driving hot delicious meals to the harvesters in the fields while they custom combined on the Blackfoot Reserve. In retirement, Mom spent over 40 winters in sunny Arizona, dancing, cycling, hiking and enjoying life to the fullest.

Dene is survived by her four children: Louise, Diane, Leo and Debra and their father Bill Gooch, sister Byrla Marshall and Dene’s longtime companion Wilf Ermantrout, five precious grandchildren – Christine, Kevin, Tanya, David and Lori and five delightful great grandchildren – Abbey, Kenzie, Kaitlin, Connor and Dashi. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Sonny and grandson Ryan. She will be sadly missed by all those privileged to know her.

A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at the Vulcan Cemetery.

Arrangements in care of Vulcan Funeral Home. www.vulcanfuneralhome.ca. Should you wish to send condolences to the family, please email directly to debrabates@shaw.ca.

Deepest condolences to the Gooch family. I have fond memories taking tap lessons from Dene at the old Armouries in Vulcan, and preparing for our recitals at seasons end.

My sympathy goes out to all the Gooch family, but especially to Diane and Debbie. The loss of a parent is never easy, but the pandemic and the restrictions around it make everything so much more difficult. Be aware that your many friends in Southern Alberta are thinking of you at this sad time. Marvin Maronda of Lomond
