CAMERON RUSSELL “CAM” MIDDLETON PASSED AWAY SUDDENLY AT THE VULCAN GENERAL HOSPITAL ON DECEMBER 20, 1990 AT THE AGE OF 65 YEARS.
BELOVED HUSBAND OF MRS. RUBY “MICKEY” MCGREGOR MIDDLETON OF CHAMPION, LOVING FATHER OF A DAUGHTER LAURIE ROSE AND HER HUSBAND TERRY MACMILLAN OF CALGARY, THREE SONS AND THEIR WIVES – DUANE AND CINDY OF CHAMPION, CHARLES “CHUCK” AND KAREN OF VULCAN AND GARTH AND NOREEN OF HIGH RIVER AND NINE GRANDCHILDREN – TROY, SCOTT, KEVIN, JASON, SHAWN, DEREK, MEGAN, JULIE AND STEVE, A BROTHER-IN-LAW GEORGE AND HIS WIFE EVELYN RAASCHOU, TWO NEPHEWS JIM AND JUDY RAASCHOU AND FAMILY AND TOM RAASCHOU, A NIECE LIZ AND HER HUSBAND PAUL BARTEK AND FAMILY, AND NUMEROUS COUSINS AND FAMILIES.
HE WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS FATHER FRANK IN 1948 AND HIS MOTHER DORA IN 1964.
CAM WAS BORN AT DRUMHELLER, AB ON JANUARY 25, 1925. HE HAS RESIDED IN THE ALSTON AREA MOST OF HIS LIFE. IN HIS YOUNGER YEARS, HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE CALGARY HIGHLANDERS MILITIA. HE DROVE TRUCK FOR MANY YEARS AND THEN HE DROVE SCHOOL BUS AND TOOK EXTRA TRIPS FOR TWENTY FIVE YEARS, WHICH HE RECEIVED A GOLD WATCH FOR. DUE TO DIABETES, HE HAD TO QUIT, WHICH REALLY HURT HIM. CAM HAD A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOUR AND REALLY ENJOYED MEETING PEOPLE.
FOR A TIME, HE HAD A DAIRY OPERATION WITH SOME FIFTY HEAD OF COWS AND WAS A TOP PRODUCER FOR MANY YEARS. AS A BOY SCOUT LEADER, HE BEGAN COOKING AT MANY OF THE SCOUT CAMPS WHICH ENCOURAGED HIM TO COOK, WHICH HE HAS DONE FOR MANY YEARS AND AT MANY PLACES, INCLUDING THE CHAMPION INN, VULCAN HOTEL, PINE LAKE CHURCH CAMP, VULCAN GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB AND FOR THE PAST EIGHT YEARS, AT THE CEDAR VISTA MOTOR INN. HE HAD ALSO PREPARED MANY BANQUETS AND CATERED FOR NUMEROUS FUNCTIONS.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD MONDAY, DECEMBER 24, 1990 AT 11 AM AT THE EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, CHAMPION, AB WITH REV. ANDY BLACK OF THE CHAMPION CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH OFFICIATING. INTERMENT ALSTON CEMETERY.
