SCHUTT, JOHN PHILLIP OF VULCAN PASSED AWAY SUDDENLY AT THE VULCAN EXTENDICARE ON AUGUST 23, 1990 AT THE AGE OF 89 YEARS.

JOHN WAS BORN IN BEDSTAD, DENMARK ON AUGUST 2, 1901 AND GREW UP ON A FARM NOT FAR FROM THERE. HE CAME TO NOVA SCOTIA BY BOAT IN 1926.,THEN TO A JOB WAITING FOR HIM IN PIAPOT, SASKATCHEWAN, TO WORK ON THE FARM OF A BROTHER OF A FRIEND HE KNEW IN DENMARK, WHERE HE LEARNED MOST OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE FROM THIS MAN’S FOUR YEAR OLD SON. THAT WINTER HE WENT TO A LOGGING CAMP AT WHITECOURT AND OVER THE YEARS HE WORKED IN THE MINES NEAR DRUMHELLER, THE OIL FIELDS AT TURNER VALLEY, HOED BEETS IN SOUTHERN ALBERTA AND WORKED FOR DIFFERENT FARMERS UNTIL 1950. HE RENTED SOME LAND NORTH AND EAST OF THE CORNER STORE AND FARMING HAS BEEN HIS LIFE UNTIL RETIRING.

HE THEN CAME TO LIVE WITH THE BURGESS FAMILY THEN TO EXTENDICARE WHERE HE HAS RESIDED SINCE. IN 1966 HE RETURNED HOME TO DENMARK. THEN AGAIN IN 1970 AND 1971 TO VISIT WITH HIS BROTHER AND SISTERS.

JOHN IS SURVIVED BY A NIECE KITTY VIJORG IN VANLOSE, DENMARK. HE WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS PARENTS, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, ALL IN DENMARK.

FUNERAL SERVICES TUESDAY AUGUST 28, 1990 AT 2:00 P.M. AT VULCAN EXTENDICARE WITH REV. BEV HILL OFFICIATING. CREMATION TO FOLLOW.

PALLBEARERS WERE SONNY McMULLEN, MEL BURGESS, LANCE ANNDERSO, MERV GOLDTHORPE, DICK HALL AND FRANK MCNIVEN.

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, IF FRIENDS SO DESIRE, DONATIONS MAY BE MADE TO THE VULCAN EXTENDICARE.
