Lloyd Alexander Armstrong , formerly of Milo, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2019 at Vulcan Extendicare at the age of 92 years.
Lloyd was born Nov 24,1926 along with his twin brother Floyd, to Andrew and Isobelle Armstrong at home by Lake McGregor. He attended Sunny Lake school from Grade 1-9 then Grade 10-11 in Milo and Grade 12 in Vulcan. Growing up, Lloyd was very active in baseball, hockey and sports in general, which continued throughout his life. He went on to take 1st year Pre-Med at the University of Winnipeg and 2nd year at University of Edmonton. The following year, the war vets
came home and they had priority so Lloyd went home to farm and caught the farming bug and decided not to go back.
On Feb 2,1952 , he married Betty, youngest daughter of William and Florence Clements of Milo. They farmed land along the west side of Lake McGregor with his brother Floyd and then later his son David. Lloyd was an active member of the United Church and the Milo Lions Club. He was a Leader of the Berrywater 4-H club and Tyro boys club, coached numerous hockey and ball teams, a member of the Milo Rovers Camping Group and he and Betty did winter Ice Fishing on McGregor. Along with farming he got into cattle, trying feeders for awhile then cow/calf operation. He loved going to auctions and bull sales which he continued up to the age of 90.
Later in life Lloyd and Betty enjoyed getting away on vacations to Arizona, California, Hawaii, England and places in Europe as well as a few cruises and bus tours.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Darbra Holoboff and partner Casey Campbell, granddaughters Leanne (Nick) Scattergood and Hailey, Jayden & Gage; Lacey Holoboff & Linkin; Rebecca (Jeremy) Goodwin, Noah, Nevaeh & Brody; daughter Debra (Del) Northcott and grandsons Dawson (Shannon) Northcott, Tripp & Cali, Dillan Northcott and Daral Northcott and son David Armstrong (Ellise MacPherson). He was predeceased by his parents, brother Floyd, half sisters Elvera Page and Laurine Quigley & half brother Harold Thomander, son-in-law Joe Holoboff and Numerous brothers/sister-in-laws.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 2 pm at the Milo Community Hall, Sue MacDonald officiating. Interment O’ Perfect Peace Cemetery, Milo, AB.
