HOULTON-DANN, Anna ‘Laura’   1921 – 2018

Houlton, Anna Laura, passed away at the Vulcan Community Health Center on April 9, 2018, two weeks prior to her 97th birthday.

Laura was born in Vulcan in 1921 to Mary and Labon Eamor, being the youngest of four brothers and six sisters. She attended school in Vulcan and in 1943, she married Tom Houlton and lived in the Reid Hill district until moving into town in 1958.

Tom passed away in 1976. Laura later married Walter Dann in 1996, who passed away in 2006.

Laura was a Past President of the Women’s Institute, Lionettes, Vulcan Ladies Curling Club and Golf Club, UCW and an Honored Royal Lady of the Royal Purple Elks.

Laura is survived by her son Don (Candis) Houlton of Vulcan, five grandchildren and their spouses and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by stepdaughter Marie Detta of Barrhead, stepson James (Hannah) Dann of Vulcan and their extended families, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 16th, 2018 at 1:30 pm at the Vulcan United Church with Sue MacDonald, D.M. officiating.

In lieu of flowers, any tributes in Laura’s memory can be made to the Vulcan County Health and Wellness Foundation, Box 28, Vulcan, Alberta, T0L 2B0.

    Don, so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. Every single time i visited dad at the lodge your mom would come and say hi to me. She would always say, “I don’t know if you remember me” and i would always reply “Of course I do, Laura”. Your mom was a genuinely lovely lady.

    Condolences to Don and family …… it has been a long time since I’ve seen Laura, but some very happy memories. I’m her grand-nephew through first husband Tom Houlton.
