LEILA MILDRED GRAHAM WAS BORN AT L’ORIGNAL, ONTARIO SEPTEMBER 17, 1895. SHE PASSED AWAY AT THE VULCAN GENERAL HOSPITAL FEBRUARY 7, 1991 AT THE AGE OF 95 YEARS.
SHE WAS PREDECEASED BY HER HUSBAND CLIFFORD NOVEMBER 1, 1965, THREE BROTHERS WILFRED, LESLIE AND GEORGE AND A SISTER EDITH.
LOVING MOTHER OF TWO DAUGHTERS ERMA AND ROY WILSON AND LOIS AND CHARLIE ROBERTS ALL OF CALGARY, THREE SONS GLEN AND MURIEL, LLOYD AND GWEN AND KENNETH ALL OF VULCAN, NINE GRANDCHILDREN DIANNE AND JIM WHITTAKER OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, LINDA AND NORM JOHNSON, GRAHAM ROBERTS, KEITH AND SIGI WILSON, SHANNON WILSON, ALL OF CALGARY, VALERIE AND DR. BRENT SKURA OF RICHMOND, B.C., LEILA AND TOM KLIPPERT OF LETHBRIDGE, BILL AND ANGELA GRAHAM OF BROOKS AND NOREEN SPENCER OF RED DEER, NINE GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, AND NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS.
CLIFFORD CAME WEST IN 1915 TO PURCHASE LAND AND BUILT A HOUSE. HE RETURNED IN 1920 TO MARRY LEILA CASS IN TORONTO. HER NEPHEWS STILL OCCUPY THE SAME LAND WHICH HER GRANDFATHER HAD PURCHASED IN I798, MAKING A TOTAL OF 193 YEARS THAT THE LAND HAS BEEN IN THE CASS FAMILY NAME.
IN HER YOUNGER YEARS, SHE WAS ACTIVE AS A SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER IN CASSBURN CHURCH, WHICH WAS NAMED AFTER THE CASS FAMILY.
SHE WAS A MEMBER OF VULCAN UNITED CHURCH AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF GROUP ONE AND ALSO A MEMBER OF THE SUNSHINE CLUB. OVER THE YEARS SHE CREATED GREAT QUANTITIES OF CROCHET TABLE CLOTHS, DOILIES, ETC. ONE OF HER GREATEST DELIGHTS WAS TO PLAY THE GAME OF SCRABBLE. SHE WAS INTRODUCED TO THE GAME BY THE LATE MRS. DANIEL JANTZIE. SOME OF THE OTHER EARLIER PLAYERS WERE MRS. DYCE ALLAN, MRS. DONALDA GILES AND MRS. ROY FULTON.
SHE WAS VERY DEVOTED TO HER FAMILY AND LOVED TO HAVE THEM ALL AROUND. SHE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL.
FUNERAL SERVICE MONDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 1991 AT 1:30 P.M. AT VULCAN UNITED CHURCH WITH REV. BEVERLY HILL OFFICIATING. INTERMENT AT VULCAN CEMETERY.
IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, DONATIONS TO THE VULCAN UNITED CHURCH MEMORIAL FUND WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
