DUNHAM, EDITH WINNIFRED PASSED AWAY MARCH 3, 1996 AT VULCAN, ALBERTA

EDITH WAS BORN AT NEEPAWA, MANITOBA NOVEMBER 17, 1904. SHE MOVED WEST WITH HER FAMILY BY TRAIN IN 1905. ARRIVING IN HIGH RIVER TO THE HOMESTEAD IN THE RED CROSS DISTRICT. SHE ATTENDED MAYVIEW AND RED CROSS SCHOOLS. SHE MARRIED CLARE MELBOURNE DUNHAM IN 1924 AT THE FARM OF HER PARENTS JOHN AND MINNIE FULTON. EDITH CONTINUED TO WORK AND RAISE HER FAMILY IN THE COMMUNITY AND THE VULCAN AREA UNTIL HER PASSING.

EDITH WAS ACTIVE IN THE COMMUNITY. SHE ATTENDED NUMEROUS CHURCH FUNCTIONS, AS WELL AS MANY COMMUNITY DANCES. SHE WAS A BEAUTIFUL DANCER AND TAUGHT ALL HER BOYS TO DANCE. SHE ENJOYED CARD PARTIES, HANDICRAFTS, EMBROIDERY, CROCHETING, COOKING ESPECIALLY HER ANGEL FOOD CAKES AND GARDENING FLOWERS AS WELL AS VEGETABLES.

SHE WAS A MEMBER OF VULCAN UNITED CHURCH, UNITED CHURCH WOMEN AND REBEKAH LODGE. SHE WAS A PAST MEMBER OF WOMEN’S INSTITUTE, SUNSHINE CLUB AND FARM WOMEN’S UNION OF ALBERTA.

EDITH LOVED HER FAMILY AND FAMILY TIMES TOGETHER ESPECIALLY CHRISTMAS’S, HER GRANDCHILDREN AND GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. SHE WOULD ALWAYS MAKE SURE THAT ANYONE VISITING HER WAS REWARDED WITH A CARE PACKAGE OF HER HOME MADE BREAD, BUNS AND TREATS.

SHE WAS PREDECEASED BY HER HUSBAND CLARE IN 1963, TWO DAUGHTERS JEAN AND MARION, THREE SISTERS, THREE BROTHERS AND HER PARENTS.

EDITH IS SURVIVED BY A DAUGHTER HELEN (STAN) THOMAS OF NANAIMO, B.C, FOUR SONS MEL (JOANNE) OF CALGARY, RON (PHYLLIS) OF VULCAN, GARY (HELEN) OF PAPUA, NEW GUINEA AND DR. PETER BRIAN (KATHRYN) OF CALGARY, A SON-IN-LAW HARTLEY KHAN OF BURNABY, TWO BROTHERS MELVIN AND CHARLIE FULTON, A SISTER MYRTLE RUTBERG, NINETEEN GRANDCHILDREN, TWENTY THREE GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, A GREAT GREAT GRANDCHILD, AND NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS.

FUNERAL SERVICE FRIDAY MARCH 8, 1996 AT 2 P.M. AT VULCAN UNITED CHURCH WITH REV. DON WATT OFFICIATING.

INTERMENT VULCAN CEMETERY.

CASKET BEARERS GARY WHEATLEY, CHUCK DUNHAM, PETER SHERSTABETOFF, BEN BRAMLEY, BRIAN DUNHAM AND RYAN MCCORMICK.
