ELSIE WAS BORN OCTOBER 23, 1905 IN KRYM, RUSSIA AND CAME TO SCHULER, SASKATCHEWAN WHERE SHE ATTENDED SCHOOL. TOGETHER THEY MOVED TO LOMOND IN 1937 AND LATER PURCHASED AND OPERATED THE POOL HALL AND BARBER SHOP. THEY SOLD THE SHOP AND RETIRED IN I973. ELSIE MOVED TO VULCAN IN 1992, FIRST TO THE PETER DAWSON LODGE AND THEN TO EXTENDICARE WHERE SHE HAS RESIDED SINCE.

ELSIE WAS VERY CLOSE TO HER CHURCH AND THEY DONATED THE LAND THE BETHANY LUTHERAN CHURCH WAS BUILT ON. ELSIE SPENT A LOT OF TIME KEEPING IT CLEAN AND PUTTING ON THE COFFEE BEFORE SUNDAY SERVICES. WHEN SHE RECEIVED A NEW MACHINE IT WOULD BE STORED UNTIL THE CURRENT ONE QUIT WORKING. SHE HAD TO HAVE NEW CUPBOARDS BUILT TO STORE THE NEW EQUIPMENT AND EMPTY BOXES UNTIL
THE OLD ONES GAVE OUT.

ELSIE WAS A VERY BUSY LADY, ALWAYS DOING SOMETHING. WHILE SITTING DOWN SHE WOULD CROCHET AND DARN OLD CLOTHING AND SOCKS INTO NEW CREATIONS. SHE ALSO DID CRAFTS AND DONATED THEM TO THE CHURCH BAZAARS, AND GREW MANY INDOOR PLANTS. SHE ENJOYED GOING TO THE BROOKS RODEO WITH THE GRANDCHILDREN AND ATTENDING AUCTION SALES.

ELSIE WAS A VERY GOOD COOK, HER DOUGHNUTS WERE FAMOUS. SHE LOVED CHILDREN AND ALWAYS HAD A JAR OF CANDY, WAGON WHEELS OR ICE CREAM ON HAND FOR THEM, CHRISTMAS AND HALLOWEEN WERE ALWAYS SPECIAL TIMES FOR HER TO LOAD THE KIDS UP WITH TREATS.

ELSIE WAS A MEMBER OF THE BETHANY LUTHERAN CHURCH, EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN WOMEN AND THE GOODWILL CLUB.
