WHILE IN CAMP HOWARD WAS OFTEN THE CHIEF COOK, WHICH HE ALSO ENJOYED DOING. HE WAS VERY FUSSY ABOUT THE CONDITION OF THE CAMP, THAT ALL THINGS BE KEPT NEAT AND TIDY. FROM ONE OF THESE TRIPS HE CAME TO BE CALLED “MOTHER” BY HIS FELLOW HUNTING BUDDIES . THE NAME STAYED WITH HIM AND HE HAS BEEN KNOWN AND CALLED MOTHER BY MANY FRIENDS AND CAMPERS SINCE.

HOWARD LOVED HIS FAMILY AND SPENDING TIME WITH THEM AND THEIR FRIENDS, SHARING FISHING AND HUNTING STORIES, EXPERIENCES AND TEACHING THEM HIS SKILLS. HE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL WHO HAD THE PRIVILEGE TO SPEND TIME WITH HIM.
