JOHN RANDLE “RANDY” STEINER WAS CALLED HOME TO HIS LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST AT CALGARY FOOTHILLS HOSPITAL ON JANUARY 18, 1998 AT THE AGE OF 50 YEARS.
RANDY WAS BORN FEBRUARY I7, 1947 AT VULCAN, ALBERTA. HE RECEIVED HIS SCHOOLING AT VULCAN AND THE NORTHERN ALBERTA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY IN EDMONTON, HE GRADUATED FROM FOREST TECHNOLOGY IN 1968. HE WORKED FOR TI-IE DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY IN EDMONTON AND TRAVELLED ACROSS MOST OF ALBERTA AND SOME OF THE NORTHWEST TERRITORIES. IN 1972 RANDY RETURNED TO THE FAMILY FARM AND BEGAN HIS CAREER AS A FARMER.
RANDY MET JEAN ANN IN EDMONTON WHILE ATTENDING N.A.I.T AND ON JULY 6, 1974 RANDY MARRIED JEAN ANN WAKEFORD AND THEY BEGAN THEIR PARTNERSHIP TOGETHER THEY LOVED TO WORK TOGETHER ON THE FARM AND RAISED THEIR TWO SONS. THE AMOUNT OF TIME THEY WORKED TOGETHER, SEEMED TO UNITE THEM CLOSER. RANDY AND JEAN ANN LOVED TO WORK TOGETHER, HE HAD A PATIENT, UNRUFFLED, GENTLE, EASY GOING SPIRIT. RANDY LOVED HIS FAMILY AND THE TIIVIES THEY SHARED TOGETHER. HE ENJOYED FISHING, COACHING HOCKEY FOR MANY YEARS, 4-H, AND A DESIRE TO INSTILL IN HIS CHILDREN THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING A RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST. RANDY’S FAITH WAS A VERY SIGNIFICANT PART OF HIS LIFE, AND HE ENJOYED THE FELLOWSHIP OF HIS CHURCH, ATTENDING BIBLE STUDIES, HELPED TO RUN THE SOUND SYSTEM, CHURCH CAMPOUTS AND SERVED ON THE BUILDING COMMITTEE.
RANDY WAS PAST PRESIDENT AND AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE VULCAN LION‘S CLUB. HE WAS ALWAYS WILLING TO LEND A HELPING HAND WHERE NEEDED. MOST RECENTLY HE HELPED SHINGLE THE ROOF AT THE NEW SWIMMING POOL COMPLEX. HE ALSO ENJOYED WOODWORKING AND MADE A LOT OF THEIR FURNITURE. HE ALSO ENJOYED GOLFING AND FOR SEVERAL YEARS RANDY AND JEAN ANN WERE INVOLVED WITH THE KOUNTRY KOOKS CATERING.
RANDY IS SURVIVED BY HIS LOVING WIFE OF TWENTY-THREE YEARS JEAN ANN OF VULCAN, TWO SONS KARL OF EDMONTON AND KURTIS OF VULCAN, HIS FATHER CARL AND MOTHER MARCELLA OF NANTON, TWO SISTERS LAURIE (NORMAN) WRIGHT OF SHERWOOD PARK AND JUDY (MAURICE) McKINNEY OF LEDUC, FATHER-IN-LAW JACK WAKEFORD OF EDMONTON, TWO BROTHERS-IN-LAW BRUCE (DONNA) WAKBFORD OF CARVEL CORNER AND GEORGE (KATHY) WAKEFORD OF EDMONTON, NUMEROUS NIECES, NEPHEWS, COUSINS AND FRIENDS. RANDY WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS MOTHER-IN~LAW GRACE WAKEFORD.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE WAS HELD FRIDAY JANUARY 23, 1998 AT I P.M. AT THE VULCAN CULTURAL RECREATIONAL CENTRE WITH REV. DOUG BARRIE OFFICIATING.
INURNMENT FOLLOWED AT THE FAMILY FARM AT 3:30 P.M.
HONOURARY BEARERS WERE DOUG McINTYRE, DUANE MIX, ALLEN WEBBER, DENNIS STRETCH, JIM McNIVEN, TOM McNIVEN, RON MARKERT AND DUANE LAFERTE.
