Booker, Lynn Ann, passed away on December 16, 2006 in Champion, Alberta at the age of 54 years.
Lynn was born at Crystal City, Manitoba on July 2, 1952 to Michael and Nellie Booker and she was raised at Snowflake, Manitoba. The family moved to many places because Lynn’s father worked on oil pipelines. Lynn attended Guelph and Waterloo University and graduated with a degree in sociology. She then traveled to the Marshall Islands where she resided for a year.
Before returning to university in Vancouver to get her teaching certificate, Lynn backpacked through Europe which included a trip to Holland to meet her relatives. Lynn met her husband, Daniel Bedard, in Kapuskasing where their families lived and they were married in 1972. After graduating from university, she taught adult education. They traveled extensively and moved to the Northwest Territories where Lynn would fly into small communities to teach. In 1993 she and her daughter moved to Prince Rupert and Lynn helped the native fishermen gain new life occupation skills. Lynn and Erin then moved to the Dave Sletto farm just outside Champion and in 2002 moved into Champion where she has resided since.
Lynn loved people and was very culturally aware and she believed in standing up for human rights. Lynn enjoyed getting to know different cultures especially the Inuit. She made many friends on the Mialta and Little Bow Colonies. Lynn’s favorite animals were chickens and roosters and when she lived in NWT, Lynn had a chicken coop and enjoyed collecting fresh eggs first thing in the morning no matter what the temperature outside was.
Lynn liked doing hand crafts and enjoyed reading, especially poetry. Her favorite authors were E.E. Cummings and Emily Carr.
Lynn is survived by her partner Tim Howlett of Champion, her loving daughter Erin Bedard (Daniel Jackson) of Vancouver, a sister Mickey Booker of Calgary and numerous friends.
