HOLOBOFF, Joseph “Joe” Jr.  1953 – 2002

Joseph Jr. “Joe”Holoboff, of Milo, passed away suddenly May 14, 2002 at home, at the age of 48 years.

Joe was born November 8, 1953 at Bassano, the youngest son of Joseph and Anne Holoboff. He attended Arrowwood school for grades one through nine and completed his high school in Vulcan. After high school he attended the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary where he took a welding course. He then began apprenticing for Seismic Service supplies in Calgary where he worked until the spring of 1974, when he returned home to help on the farm.

On November 1, 1975 he married Darbra Armstrong at Milo and they began their lives together. Joe continued to farm with his dad and grandfather and in 1977 started working with the PFRA for three years. In 1984 he became an operator of oil wells for Summit Resources and Joss Energy 1989, as well as farming and raising cattle. Due to down sizing, Joe was let go from Summit and went back to farming only. As the last few years have been bad for farmers. Joe did some custom work with Kodiak Mint Farm and at Christmas time he started working for Mark’s Oilfield.

Joe loved his family and his granddaughter. He enjoyed sharing time with each and every one of them. He also enjoyed his life as a farmer, and took pride in providing for his family. In his younger years he enjoyed playing hockey and played goal for several teams including the Vulcan Juveniles and the Mossleigh Mutilators. Joe also enjoyed big game hunting , taking all kids water-skiing at Lake McGregor and fishing of which a few stories could be told.

Joe was a member of the High River Fish and Wildlife Association, the Royal Canadian Legion Vulcan Branch #21 and a past member of the Arrowwood Lion’s Club.

Beloved husband of Darbra of Milo, loving father of three daughters Leanne and Lacey, both of Lethbridge, Rebecca of Milo, his granddaughter Hailey of Lethbridge, father Joseph Sr. of Bassano, a sister Ruth (Tom) Williams of Arrowwood, in-laws Lloyd and Betty Armstrong of Milo, sister-in-law Debra (Del) Northcott of Caroline, brother-in-law David Armstrong of Milo, numerous Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Joe was predeceased by a brother Tom in 1990 and his mother Anne in 1996 and Grandmother Dora of Castlegar, B.C. in 2000.

Celebration of Life Service Tuesday May 21, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. at the Milo Community Hall with Rob Moore D.M. officiating.

Casket Bearers Casey Campbell, Ralph Wiebe, Murray McLean, Jim Williams, John Bath, Gary Middlestead, Darren Williams and Clark Williams.

Cremation.

In lieu of flowers tributes in Joe’s memory could be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation 1331 29 St. N.W. Calgary T2N 4N2.
