BOMFORD, Reginald Hugh  1925 – 2003

Reginald Hugh Bomford, passed away February 21, 2003 at the Little Bow Continuing Care Centre, Carmangay, Alberta at the age of 78 years.

Reg was born January 7, 1925 at Ashern, Manitoba to Trevor and Henrietta Bomford. He worked in farming, but he really enjoyed working with cattle and horses. In November of 1947 he married Noma Ferguson and together they resided in Manitoba until 1951. They moved to Calgary and Reg began working for the City Water Works Department. They moved to Vulcan in 1955 to work as a grain buyer for many grain companies then moved to many places including Mossleigh, Aldersyde and in 1973 to Lethbridge. In 1975 Reg began working for Flint Construction until going to work at the Town of Bowden as Public Works Superintendent, Noma passed away in 1990 and Reg continued working until retiring in 1991, that same year he moved to Innisfail until moving in 1993 to Lynn and Jerry’s home in Cayley, the following year to Bethany Care Centre in Calgary, then to the Little Bow Care Centre in 1997 where he has resided since.

Reg loved people and was always willing to help out, he had a great sense of humor and enjoyed playing funny pranks. He especially loved his grandchildren and always had a piece of juicy fruit gym for them. Reg was an honest, hardworking man who would never do wrong to anyone. He was involved with his community and served on many boards and was a member of many organizations including a Life member of the B.P.O. Elks, St. John’s Ambulance attending the Bowden Rodeos and hockey games. In his younger years he joined the Calgary Highlanders but was unable to serve overseas, he was a leader in Air Cadets, and was involved with 4H and enjoyed a lot of Curling.

Reg is survived by two daughters Lynn (Jerry) Morin of Cayley and Patty (Kent) Davis of Vulcan a son Bob (Crystal) Bomford of Vulcan, eight grandchildren Karla (Michael) Calvert of High River, Amanda (Ryan) Pawlitzki of Calgary, Kendra Davis of Calgary, Reed Davis of Vulcan, Kristin Davis of Calgary, Jenna Davis of Vulcan, Tracey (Wade) Barr of Vulcan and Angela Bomford of Calgary, four great grandchildren Jayde and Ryder Barr of Vulcan and Mitchell and Ashley Calvert of High River, a sister May, numerous nieces and nephews.

Reg was predeceased by wife Noma, two sisters, three brothers and his parents.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday February 26, 2003 at 1:30 P.M. at Vulcan United Church with Rev. Henry Friesen officiating.

Internment to follow Thursday February 27 at 1:30 P.M. At Bowden Cemetery, Bowden, Alberta.
