Gretta Hilda Loose of Vulcan, Alberta passed away after a lengthy illness on September 14, 2004 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 64 years.
Gretta was born on February 5, 1940 at Vulcan, Alberta to Martin and Annie Jose. She was raised on the family farm north of town and attended school in Vulcan. Gretta later attended Secretary school in Calgary. She married Otto “Bunty” Loose and together they farmed for thirty years. Gretta worked at Macleod Savings and Credit Union and began driving school bus in 1993. She loved driving the school children and continued to drive until the present. Gretta would always keep an eye on nature while she drove her bus route.
Gretta loved her family and their times together. She rarely missed a hockey game of Cole’s and was very active with Kera and her horses. Gretta enjoyed yard work and family camp outs. She was still involved in farming and kept a close eye on the weather and the crops. Gretta was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #21 Vulcan and the Legion Bowling League. She was an independent person and was always willing to help.
Loving mother of a daughter Lavonda (Kim) Justinick, three grandchildren Kera and Cole Justinick and Jasmine Loose, a sister Florence (Maurice) Ditto all of Vulcan, two nephews Duane Ditto and Dean (Wanda) Ditto and their daughter Daralan and a host of friends. “Mom, we’re really going to miss you.”
Gretta was predeceased by her parents.
Funeral service was held Friday, September 17, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ, Vulcan with Rev. Doug Barrie officiating.
Honorary bearers were Betty McFadden, Carol Tiegen, Hannah Dann, Veronica Matheson, Leo Gooch and Keith Caldwell.
Casket bearers were Lyle Lebsack, Shaye Griffin, Jordan Krystalowich, Brett Robertson, Ryan Williams, Brad McKenna, Chris Lennie and Jayson Dietz.
Private Family Internment Vulcan Cemetery.
