Robert Henry “Bob” Jones of Champion passed away suddenly at home on Friday May 7, 2004 at the age of 73 years.
Bob was born May 3, 1931 at Turtleford, Saskatchewan to Richard and Ethel Jones.
In 1948 he joined the Royal Canadian Army and began serving his country. In 1950 while traveling through Vancouver on his way to Korea, he met Eileen Elder. He joined the RCAF in late 1951 and in November of 1952 Bob and Eileen were married in Vancouver. Together they traveled around to numerous locations, serving and seeing Canada. In 1969 he retired from the Air Force and worked for the Hudson Bay Company in Burnaby B.C. for 10 years. Bob truly loved his country and he served it faithfully for 18 years. In 1981 he moved to Fox Creek where he worked for Cardinal Coach Lines for the next 9 years. While relocating to Champion his wife Eileen died on May 7, 1990. Bob remained in Champion and on October 17, 1992 he married a former acquaintance Rita Hansen, and was blessed with much happiness again. Bob and Rita would travel in the summer with their motor-home visiting family and friends. Bob has continued to reside in Champion ever since.
Bob was very active in his community. He was a member of the Champion Legion Branch. He also enjoyed time in his yard looking after the garden and flowers. Every December Bob and Rita would light up their yard with numerous lights to celebrate the season.
Beloved husband of Rita of Champion, loving father of a daughter Bev (Mike) Godfrey of Oakland, Oregon, two sons Ric of Castlegar and Bill (Penny) of Nelson, two grandchildren Jessie (Allen) Boreham of Morinville and Michael of Oakland, a brother Frank Jones of Victoria, B.C., his mother-in-law Margret Hansen of Mayerthorpe, a sister-in-law Eleanor Henderson of Vulcan, a brother-in-law Allen (Marlene) Hansen of Fox Creek, two dogs Snoopy and Nelson, numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his first wife Eileen in 1990, his parents, an infant sister and an infant brother.
Funeral Service Thursday May 13, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Vulcan with Padre Doug Barrie officiating.

Honorary Bearers William Rausch, Art Oakley, Maurice Charland, Arnold Lambert, Harvey Wenzel and Allen Hansen.

Interment at 4:00 p.m. in Field of Honor, Champion Cemetery.
