Grete Marie Christiansen of Champion passed away suddenly at home on Friday May 7, 2004 at the age of 72 years.

Grete was born September 20, 1931 in Banff, Alberta to Theodore and Emma Kobsted. She received all her schooling in Calgary.

Grete met Svend at the Danish Canadian Club in Calgary and they were married on September 20, 1954. Grete worked in a large department store in Calgary. In 1982 Grete and Svend moved to Champion where they owned and operated the Champion General Store until it closed in 1986. Grete then became librarian for the Champion Library.

Grete was very active in the community. She was a member of the County Library Board, Champion Pioneer Club, the Bethel Lutheran Church where she served as secretary and treasurer and the Rainbow Literacy Society where she served as secretary.

Beloved wife of Svend of Champion, loving mother of two sons Gordon of Champion and Philip of Lethbridge.

Memorial service on Wednesday May 12, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Vulcan with Pastor Richard Brown officiating.

Inurnment at 3:30 p.m. at Champion Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers tributes in Grete’s memory could be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta 1825 Park Rd. S.E. Calgary T2G 3Y6.
