Ivy Goldthorpe, formerly of Lomond, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2004 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 86 years.
Ivy was born on May 17, 1917 at Lomond, Alberta to Herbert and Edith West. Ivy’s mother died when she was four so Ivy became a care giver at a very early age, helping her dad look after her brothers. When Ivy was a young girl, she belonged to the Women’s Institute Girls Club and shared her memories of those special times with her family. Ivy graduated from the Lomond High School in 1934.
Ivy married Hirst West in 1939. They moved to the Buffalo Hills but returned to Lomond after five years. Ivy was a member of the Lomond Community Club for sixty years, she belonged to the Anglican Guild, helped with 4-H and was a CGIT and Explorers leader. Ivy curled and traveled with Hirst.
Loving mother of a son Keith (Betty) Goldthorpe of Lomond, two grandchildren Tara (Rob) Page and Jason (Leanne) Goldthorpe both of Calgary, a great-grandchild Gavin Goldthorpe , a brother Albert (Helen) West of Vulcan, a brother-in-law Mervin (Frances) Goldthorpe of Vulcan, four sisters-in-law Yvonne West of Vulcan, Lorraine Stumpf of Milo, Edith Garriock of Milo and Mary Hoffman of Camrose and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ivy was predeceased by her husband Hirst, two brothers Herbert and Jack (Charlotte) West and her parents

Celebration of Life Funeral Service was held Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Lomond at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ed Summers officiating.
Honorary Bearers were Bev Lee, Letty Lynn Stumpf, Gordon White, Bruce West, Betty Pate and Wes Garriock.
Casket Bearers were Ken West, Mervin Goldthorpe, David Sande, Doug West, Burt Hingley and Allan Grant.
Internment Archmount Cemetery, Lethbridge, Alberta at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers tributes in Ivy’s memory could be made to the Lomond Community Centre, Box 130, Lomond, Alberta, T0L 1G0.
